Vanderbilt research study?

Just curious. Has anyone been contacted to do a Vanderbilt research study after RNY?

They called me and asked it I would do a pet scan study for dopamine receptors in the brain before and after RNY.  They also asked for my hubby to participate, in a different one.

I dont remember signing anything that said I was open for questioning about participating in studies. Just wondering if its standard practice for them>

Hey Janice! Yes, I was contacted by Vandy because they wanted me to participate in a couple of research studies but I didn't feel as though I was really interested, in spite of the money I turned both studies down. Vandy is a teaching/learning hospital and they are constantly doing studies there. There is no real pressure on you to participate it's up to you. If you want to know more about my experience you can always PM me and I will tell you more!

Vanderbilt will ask if you like to participate but will not make you.  However, I did participate and I hope that the study I was in can in some way help in the future treatment of diabetes. 

Keep an open mind.  The way alot of the surgeries and medicines we have today came to be were thru those willing to participate in studies ahead of us.
