I didn't sign up for the mini goal check in, but I think I need to hold myself accountable to it.  I was 199.8 when the challenge started.  Today I am 195.6.  So, I have 3 1/2 weeks to lose 5.7 pounds to meet goal.  I don't know, with all the steroids in my system, I am STARVING all the time, so I may not make this one.  My NSV for now is that for the first time in forever, surgery didn't literally put my in bed with diabetes and lung related complications!

Marilyn ~
Good for you --- posting for accountability (AND encouragement!) You are doing so well! You've lost 11 more pounds than me - in 3 1/2 months less time WOW!!  And actually, I have you down at 202 at the end of the last mini-challenge on 7/4/08. That would mean you've lost more like 7 pounds! You can do 5 more  --- drink more when you're hungry, whether it's a protein drink or jus****er! The extra fluids have to help, and it will keep you from eating, since you can't do both w/in 45-60 minutes of each other! How's that for attacking it psychologically?

I know those steroids can mess w/ ya - physically and mentally! Kinda like being on fluids - I came home from the hospital and after a few days thought surely I had lost weight through all this - and I was up 10 pounds! UGH! Say... does that mean I can claim losing 14 pounds instead of 6?!

Maybe don't weigh again until Labor Day... just take care of yourself and know that any yo-yo-ing is steroid induced. Once you're through this craziness, and off the meds, you'll probably see a huge plummet!! That'll be fun!

BTW - so happy for you that this last surgery/recovery was made so much easier due to your weight loss! No complications is GREAT, isn't it?! And it's because you're taking take of YOU!! Keep it up!!

Tara's check-in: SW(7/4): 145  Goal: 136 (-9)  CW(8/8): 139 (-6)

NSV: This was pretty significant, but got lost amidst the craziness of the last couple of weeks (surgery/recovery)... When I was in the ER triage room (7/24/08), the doctor ordered X-rays.
The technician came in - just for a moment, then left, then returned w/ a machine. I was only vaguely aware of who he was or what he was there to do. (Gotta love those pain meds!)
Anyway, he and the nurse were talking. She relayed to him that I had had WLS, and he said, "Really? How much have you lost?"
I told him, "102 pounds."
He said, "Wow! That's great! All I knew was that when I came in and looked at you, I thought, 'Oh, she's tiny. I can bring the machine in and just X-ray her right here.'"
I told him he had just officially earned a spot as an angel!
I never knew that another upside to being smaller (tiny?!!) would be that they could literally bring in a machine, have me lean up to put the film under me, have me lay back and - from above - snap the x-ray --- and I wouldn't even have to get up! (WOW!)
What a beautiful thing - WLS!!! (And I can't wait to talk to Dr. Spaw and ask how much easier it was to operate on me 100+ pounds less!)

Awesome job! We're about 1/2 way through the challenge, and you're 1/2 to your mini-goal!
I was lovin' it for you when I read your post about your "loose 14's". And I can't wait to see your pics from your reunion!

I don't remember what I started out as but I'm now 254 which means I've lost 101 lbs.  I would like to lose 4 more pounds by Labor Day.

My NSV happened this morning. I had to get some tests done on my bladder due to multiple UTI's and I made sure they knew that I had WLS because they were putting contrast dye in my bladder. They asked me how much had I lost and when I told them, they said wow you've got great skin because most people have really flabby skin. I smiled and was happy and kept my batwings under wraps.  LOL

Thanks again Tara, for keeping up with all of this.
Well, my starting at 7/4/08 was 218 and I wanted to be at 209.  I lost 4 to 215.   I am ok with this because I had hit a plateau right at the end of June and for a while didn't move at all.   But with the extra exercise (walking distance is 2-3 miles per day with a faster pace--power walking) I finally started moving.  I went to check in at Dr. Morton's Wednesday and they said I was on track for a Lap Bander......I lost 30 pounds per surgery to meet my goals of insurance (that took 6months) and since surgery I have lost 28 more pounds.....(4 months)---can't complain.

My NSV is that the clothes keep falling off. Pants are 16 and very lose almost to the point of needing a new pair (these are only 2 weeks old), tops are 14 and even my shoes fit differently.
My resting HR this time last year was in the 90's and today it is 56-60......which is AWESOME for my age.
I still tell everyone that I should have done this sooner and would not change it for the world......I just remind myself daily,
I DIDN'T GET FAT OVER NIGHT.........I DON'T HAVE TO LOSS IT ALL OVERNIGHT EITHER...SLOW AND STEADY WORKS WELL.
Thanks to everyone for the support,
See you at the Walk for Obesity.....Hope I can recognize everyone.
