I really enjoyed the meeting last night.  It was great to finally meet some of the people from this Board that I haven't met before and to get to see Scott again.  Guys thanks so much for all the information you shared.  I came home with a new resolve and determination to succeed.  This Board and the Support group are to me with AA must be to an alcoholic; a lifeline.

Hey there B!

It was great to finally meet you!  I love our support group at Baptist.  Paula ROCKS!  I wonder if other hospitals have someone so fabulous...we are very fortunate!  Kisses to your face!  Have a great day.

It was wonderful to actually get to talk to you last night. We do have a wonderful group.

We are here for you anytime. Feel free to ask questions or jump in with any ideas or support you feel comfortable sharing. Before long you will be one of the veterans too.

Looking forward to seeing you at the pool party on the 30th.

Yes I agree that it was great to meet some of you. John and I have been coming to the meetings for a few months and we dont always get to talk to everyone but we enjoy the meetings alot. He is currently on the two shakes and one lean cuisine diet and I am still trying to get approved. So I may be coming here to vent a little when he gets cranky at me. :-)

Today hasn't been a good day for several reasons:

1.  I opened a new box of protein shakes and for some reason checked the back of the box.  It said each shake contained 14 grams of protein.  I took a previous box with me to my pre op visit and I know Lara and I both looked at it and it said 20 grams per shake.  I have looked at the othere boxes and they also say 14 grams.  That means for the last 5 weeks (2 weeks pre-op & 3 weeks post op) I've only been getting 42 grams of protein per day instead of the 60 I thought I was getting.  I don't know if this will cause any future problems or not!!!

2.  Whether or not I'm wearing a bra or not doesn't matter, I feel like a tight band is wrapped right under my breast and tied into a tight knot right below where by breast meet.  Today it was really bothering me.

3.  I really had trouble getting my water down today.  It seems to hit like a rock.  I ate some yogurt about 4:00pm and that made me feel some better.  I also ate some squash.  Why can I eat without too much struggle yet I can hardly get the water to stay down?

Your thoughts please.

Are you drinking ice cold water? I found that warm or room temp fluids were easier for me to get down. Also, remember to take tiny sips. You may be taking too big of a swallow and it is causing problems.

Don't worry too much about the difference in your protein shakes up to this point. It's not that big of a difference over this short time period. Are you drinking the Slim Fast? If you are, and you are getting the High Protein, switch to the Low Carb. For some reason the Low Carb have more protein than the HP. Go figure!

I would love to see some of your crochet projects. I crochet but I don't think I am brave enough to enter anything into a county fair.

During my first few weeks, I had more trouble drinking my water than eating.  My trouble with water has gotten much better.  I enjoyed the meeting, and look forward to seeing you at the next one.

Golly, it's really nice seeing all these new faces on the boards.  what was even nicer is meeting all of you in person!

B, hang in there and don't over think what your doing.  As I said earlier, it will get better each and every day.  The first weeks after surgery is the worst.  But look what the Doc said the other day, "You are doing fine".  So hang in there girl!
