Coincidence or Weakened Immune System?

I am a week into my pre-op diet (start full liquids tomorrow) and have gotten a bad head cold (or maybe it's just off season allergies???).  The funny thing is renee6942 is a day ahead of me on the diet and she is sick too.

Is it some weird coincidence or could it be my body is in starvation mode and wasn't able to fight this bug?

The worst thing is I don't like to drink when I am sick and am not getting my fluids in like I should!

That's a really good question!  I don't have an answer, but hope you get to feeling better real quick!

Good morning blush,
I hope you are feeling better this morning.  There is a bug going around that ends with a headache, but has the usual GI symptoms at the beginning.  I wonder if you are not getting in enough fluid and you are maybe a tad dehydrated?  Whether you 'like' to drink when your sick or not, with WLS, not drinking is not an option.  So drink up girlfriend, and see if that doesn't eventually make you feel better.  You can do this!

Ok, I took your advice and have been hitting the water this morning.  After the second bottle I am not dreading every sip so it must be working.  Thanks!

Now if I can bring myself to drink a shake...I gotta get four of them in today.

Since we do live in Tennessee, the land of allergies, I would have to guess something has triggered your allergies. Like Marilyn said, drink up!

Increasing your fluids will actually help your body fight off whatever is irritating your sinuses and thin the mucus so you can get rid of it. You might try drinking hot liquids - I know, who wants hot drinks in this heat - the hot liquids will thin the sinus drainage even more and help move it on out.

You want to get this out of the way before your surgery!
