Im trying to find if there is any info out there on what United Health Care requires to get approved. I checked my benifits and  " morbid obesity weight loss surgery is covered 100% upon approval"....so waht does that mean? ANyone gone thru them?

I had outpatient lap band surgery and UHC paid for everything.

I had to see a nutritionist, have a phsch consult, sent med records for 5 yrs.  Hope this helps

I dont really haev 5 yrs worth of medical records. Just stuff here and there. Two surgeries, childbirth and a visit for my knees (chondromalacia) and just visits here and there for various things. How many visits to the nutritionist did you haev to have? What was the psych consult like?

I have UHC and I did not have to have 5 yrs of medical records.  I did however have to have the physc evaluation.  I think that my surgeon required that though.  The surgeons office sent in the results from the evaluation and my letter from my primary care doc.  I had comorbities of diabetes and CAD.  That may have helped me.  I was approved in less than 2 weeks.  THey paid for everything!  Good Luck and keep us posted.  Do you work for a delivery company by chance?? LOL

I was really worried about the phsc consult but he just talked with me for an hour.  It was really easy.  My Dr. required only 1 nutr visit.   I also had to have a letter from my reg Dr.   All this was probably my Dr.s  requirements.

My Dr. took all my papers and sent them to the ins co.  I did have a problem getting UHC to approve.  I had to make a few calls.  But in the end, It was all paid for.

I actually work for Citi Group and they just added this to our insurance package this year. Ive read a few profiles who have UHC and nearly all of them were approved after the 1st letter. Im excited now. I have an appt with my primary care dr this friday to I guess get a referral to a specialist? Is that what will happen? Im so new to this, nervous but excited. To think that this time next year I could be in a new body with more engery to enjoy my kdis doing NORMAL summer activities etc....its so exciting! I jsut want to feel good again, looking good will just be icing on the cake!
