Mayor's First Dat Festivial and a WOW moment for me.
FYI!!!!!! Phil and I set up a booth at the Sommet Center yesterday, we had a blast. Got to meet,shake hands and get our pic taken with Mayor Carl Dean. We talked to him about the Walk and he said that he would try his best to be there, so we will see. If he does make it, then we need to sing Happy Birthday to him, he said that Sept. 20th was his birthday, so we will see.
There was about 125 vendors there. We was approached by several asking how/if they could help. We approached several asking if they could help us out with the Walk. We have a vendor list with contact inforamtion on it, we are going to start working on that this week.
We passed out about 500 flyers with registration information on it. We could not sale the Cookbooks there, but we did have one for people to look at and had the forms for them to order from. We passed out about 35-45 of them. We passed out about 25 business cards to people that want more information about either being sponsors or wanting to help out some other way. I think we got alot out by passing out this information and just the plain old word of mouth.
Now to my WOW moment. We had a couple approach us to ask more about the Walk and while Phil was talking to the wife, the husband asked me was we doing this in honor of somone. I told him no...his reply was then who is that on your button, I told him that it was me before WLS. He said no way....get out of here...you have got to be kidding me. He was amazed, gave me a hug and told me that I looked awesome and keep up the good work, needless to say that made me feel wonderful.
