Update on Chase and other things
Hi all.
Chase is doing wonderfully now and has been home for over a week now. He is making up for lost time and gained a pound in one week. Today at the MD he weighed 11 pounds and 3 ounces. He is so hungry all the time that the doctor has decided we should go ahead and give him some rice cereal. Maybe then he can sleep for more than an hour at a time, bless his heart. It is amazong how quickly he has recovered from surgery. He will see the surgeon for a followup tomorrow. Busy Busy day tomorrow. Early in morning I will be going to Johnson City for an ultrasound of my gallbladder. No symptoms of anything wrong it is just a required preop test for my surgeon. In two weeks I will be having a EGD. Dr. Hodge will be doing it and I think I will get to meet him then. I had my first consult on the 21st but didnt get to meet Dr. Hodge. I won't be seeing him as a patient in person until my testing is completed. So much to do. I will be attending my first support group meeting in Johnson City on Aug 8. I'll let you know how that goes. So, anyway, the ball is rolling and now I just have to maintain. I reached his initial goal of losing 10 to 15 pounds during the first 3 months of the 6 month diet. I saw my MD yesterday and I've lost 11 pounds since April 24. Now, I just need to keep it all off for the remaining 3 months and then I will be good to go. This really helped get me motivated to stick to my eating plan again. On a side note, the diet has helped other things as well. My triglycerides are down from 250 to 191. My cholesterol is also under 200 and my A1c was down to 5.1. It feels great to be reaping some good health benefits already. Anyway, I want to thank all of you for the encouragement through all this. Especially you Melinda. All of you mean so much to me. I wish I were having surgery in Nashville so I could get to know all of you better, but things just happened to work out better closer to home.
Thank you all.
Blessings,
Karen
Keep up the great work that you are doing. It all will be worth it. All the wt loss, the meal planning, everything, will just better prepare you for your life after surgery. It probably seems like 3 months is a long time to keep all this up, but its just the beginning of your new life. Congrats on what you have accomplished so far!!!

Thanks. I really don't mind waiting for another three months. There is so much to do still. It has been so crazy around here that it has been hard to keepmy head on straight. I still have to schedule my pysch eval etc. Plenty of things to do to keep me busy. Thanks for the good wishes.
Blessings,
Karen
I am so happy to hear from you, and that things are going well. Thank goodness the surgery for Chase was a success and he seems to be back to normal, eating again and growing like a weed! Before long you will be celebrating his one year birthday and wondering, "Where did the time go?" Then his 16th birthday! LOL.
Wow you are doing great on losing weight. And getting back on track. We all get sidetracked sometimes... that is why we are all here, to help one another during those difficult times. I just hope there isn't a time when every single one of us trip and fall... whose gonna help get us up? LOL.
