Happy Monday - What's in Your Cup?

Good morning, my friends! I trust that you all had a wonderful weekend.  The sun was beating down so hot and hard on my head that I HAD to get into the pool just to keep cool...  but it was wonderful.

I have a few thoughts on my mind today.  First, as I walked into work one day last week, there was an older man watering the flowers outside.  He seemed pretty content in what he was doing, as if he really enjoyed it.  I said, "Good morning!" to him and immediately he turned with a smile that covered his face.  He said, "Good morning to you!"  I remember thinking that this is a person who has contentment and joy in his heart, even if he did have to get out of bed and come to work!

Then this morning, on my way in, I smiled and greeted a lady.  It did not invoke the same response from her.  She didn't smile, nor speak, and continued walking in a hum drum manner.  Her body language said, "I'm not living.  I'm merely existing."  There was no joy, almost a dread in her face.  It made me wonder:  what do others think of me when they see me?  When they greet me, do I respond? Or continue on in misery and defeat? Just a thought.

Now, let's talk about some wls stuff.  Today's topic:  liquids.  I shared last week how hard it is for me to get my daily intake of fluids.  So I decided, I am stepping it up. I am going to push those liquids all day today and have a new goal in mind.  I started the day with:

Choc matrix with Coconut davinci

Water with strawberry kiwi water sensations

Blackberry Sage tea that I bought at World Market yesterday (wow its great!)

So let's talk liquid...  not protein necessarily.  But what's in your cup?

What a great thread!  I, too, am challenged with liquids!!!!  This morning I started with decaf espresso with Nectar capp. and Labrada Vanilla.  Since then I have had some coffee with Nectar truffle and I am getting ready to have some water with Lipton mandarin mango.

Cheers!

Fredderica (I give cute nicknames to my close friends)

I have always had problems in getting my liquids.  I had a kidney stone prior to wls.  I had one after.  I know its due to not being hydrated enough...  many think that getting the weight off means that we are done... we've crossed the finish line... WRONG!  It just means that now you can focus attention on other areas that you will always have to be concerned with:  vitamins, supplements, FLUID INTAKE, etc. etc.  I am trying to drink some things that I don't normally, such as the flavored water and also the tea.

The brand that I like is "The Republic of Tea" from World Market.  It's the first that I actually purchased, however.  Susan has the pomegranate green tea which I loved, and tried to be cheap and duplicate at home with some green tea packs and pomegranate davinci syrup.  It did not turn out the same!!!  I learned my lesson and just bucked up and bought the tea for 9.99!  Good gracious I wouldn't balk at paying for protein! Sometimes I am just a tight wad.

Iv not been through surgery yet but it is still a challenge for to remember to drink what I need to.
So I started one glass of water when I wake up , before lunch, and before dinner.

I brewed a nice gallon of tangerine Celestial Tea and put it in the fridge. I will have that inbetween.

Hey Janice, I love just about anything tangerine. Where do you get your tangerine Celestial Tea?

Thanks,
Cheryl

Hi Cheryl :)
I love the Celestial Teas. Most are caffeine free. They through me off when they changed their pretty pictures on the boxes.
They have two types of orange that I have found. One is Mandrian orange the other is Tangerine Orange Zinger (which I think might be a new one).

Although I cant remember exactly where I got the Tangerine Zinger, I have found the Kroger in my area usually has the whole selection.
I think there is also some selection at Kmart and some at Walmart.

I wish I could remember exactly. I usually grab the blueberry and what ever orange I can find. Just out of habit I look for tea where ever I go :)

I don't have any problem with my protein drinks...I LOVE MY PROTEIN DRINKS!!!!!  It's just the rest of the liquid that I have problems with.  I like drinking Splenda sweetened decaf tea...and I try to remember to make it every night but then there are days like today.  I didn't get it done so I am clammering for something palitable to drink.

Right now there's Crystal Light lemonade in my cup, but if the day keeps going like it has, I may have to find some Jack Daniels or Jim Beam to spike it with!!

Typically I don't have problems with fluids during the week.  It's on weekends, when there is no structure that I suffer.

I usually try and keep some type of Crystal Light in the fridge at work.  But my new found favorite is Crystal Light White Grape, and then I add a few sliced strawberries.  By the time I have finished 32 oz., it has a nice sangria type flavor!

Any suggestions for the weekend would be appreciated!
