Great Weekend and one Bad moment!

This weekend my dh and I went to Nashville for the dinner club, to Franklin for a special event for my bff Cindy's daughter and then on to Cindy's outside of Huntsville for the rest of the weekend.  We originally planned to stay there until this morning but dh realized at about 7 pm CST last night that  he had to be in 2 towns in east Tennessee today that were 150 miles apart, so we headed home.  At about 8 pm, we were 13 miles west of Winchester, TN, and we had a close encounter with a deer.  It ran out of a cornfield in dh's blind spot and we hit it going about 45-50 mph.  Luckily dh is a great driver and he managed to keep my car from flipping over (it was certainly trying to sprout wings).  Poor deer was murdered, car is massively injured, and I am in real pain! (really ready for this surgery now)  But, we finally made it home about 2 am and my poor car is on the way to the shop.  Unfortunately the deer did not have liability insurance so we have to file it as unisured motorist! LOL, you just have to laugh at these things!

We had a fabulous weekend which we both desperately needed but kind of ended on a sour note.  Also, one WOW--I tried on dresses in size medium and 12 and they FIT!  Of course, to be perfectly honest, they were stretchy!  Ended up buying a little black dress, non stretchy and straight in a 14 and a red bathing suit in a 12.

I am so sorry for your car and Bambi!! Seriously that can be dangerous, some people I knew in East TN were both killed when a deer jumped out of the woods into the windshield of their car!!

Hey Marilyn, you were in my neck of the woods - Meridianville is just 2 miles north of Huntsville! If ya'll were on 64 between Huntland and Winchester, that is one of the WORST places for deer crossing the highway. The uncle of a friend of mine was traveling west on that stretch of highway at dusk about 5 years ago. They were in a Ford F250 quad-cab pickup truck and there were 4 guys in the truck. A herd of about 12 or so deer ran across in front of them and one jumped right in through the windshield. His uncle was killed instantly, and the other 3 guys were all injured.  I have seen more deer, in larger numbers, along that stretch of Highway 64 than any other place.

Glad ya'll were not hurt - the car can be repaired. As for Bambi, well,  better  the deer than you folks!!

Bama,
That is
exactly where we were!  That deer came out of no where!  I have known people who were killed as well.  If it hadn't been for dh's skilled driving, we would have been a lot worse off.  The deer went under the car and raised the drivers side off the road!  Anyway, car is now in the shop with $3600 worth of damage, but will be fixed in 2 weeks, and I am sure Flower and Thumper will give Bambi a proper funeral, so....we'll try to stay out of trouble.  BTW, I didn't know you were so close, Bama, we were at friends in Ardmore!  We try to visit them as often as possible, maybe we can all get together next time!

Oh my gosh!  How terrible!  I'm so happy that you and Ron weren't hurt badly, so sorry that your neck is hurting worse, but good thing it will only be  a couple of days until it's fixed!

Don't forget to have Ron call me when you get out of surgery!!!

Read my thread about AO and place your order!

I love you guys!

I am so glad that the two of you are safe!!!  This must have been the weekend for close counters, Friday on the way to the eye doctor something that was probably metal came flying at us on 440 and hit the side of my NEW (have not even made the 3rd payment) Dodge Journey and dented the drivers door and put a hole through the steel on the drivers passenger car.  We called and it will be under comp. on our insurance so it will not count against us, but I too am grateful Todd was able to keep the car under control and that it was not a few inches higher, because even though the damage is slighltly mild, if it had come through the widow, it could have killed us!!!  I sure hope you do well with your surgery and recover quickly!!
