Saving Money
I don't know that I would call eliminating the land line going "ghetto".
Bill and I gave that up a couple of years ago because the majority of phone calls we were getting on that line were sales pitches or telemarketers. We weren't spending that much time at home anyway and the people we wanted to talk to could always be reached from our cell phone and/or they could reach us. Our cell phone numbers are even printed in our church directory so any church member can reach us even though we are not in the regular phonebook.

Here are some hints with saving on your gas for your car. My brother-in-law hauls the gasoline tankers so he has shared some tips there and I have pulled it up on the internet.
1. Try not to let your car get below half a tank. With the level of gas closer to the top of the tank, less gas will evaporate. And it doesn't hurt as much even though in the long run its the same.
2. Fill up your tank in the mornings on cooler days (sounds hard during the summer). Have you ever noticed that all the holding tanks for stations are underground, where its cooler. Cooler days condenses the gas and gives you more for your buck.
3. Don't pump the gas at full blast, slower is better. This is creating air and fumes in the line and will take more from the pump to fill up your car.
4. Don't top off your tank. Rounding up to the closest dollar is just wasting your pennies. When you are trying to sqeeze in those few extra pennies, it's just going right back in the hose and giving the gas station back their own gas. If my nozzle stops on 42.67, I just round up to 42.70 not 43 like I used too.
5. DON'T BUY the ethenol blended gas!!! This will give you less miles per gallon (one or two in my case, which adds up. I have an 18gal tank at two extra miles per gal, and average 20-21 miles per gal, which adds up if you have long trips) and is bad for the O-rings in your car, which would mean more money on more maintenance in the long run.
6. Run cruise control when ever possible unless you have hills and turns. This will keep your car running at constant speed.
7. And when the light turns green, don't gun the gas. It sucks the gas. Nice and easy startup is better.
And Aldi's is a great place to buy off brand groceries and some produce. We also have eliminated ground beef and only eat ground turkey and eat turkey bacon and turkey smoked sausage. And if you look at the grocery store, they are cheaper.
Hope this helps.

I started a garden this year of things that I ran out of easily and get a little pricy. Tomatoes and Zuchini.
Zuchini is a great filler for meats. It really just takes on what ever taste it is surrounded by.
You can also make mock apple pie filling with it. (add apple spices and splenda little butter and pan fry)
But it was so expensive in the store I decided this year I would start my own.
Iv never gardened before and was very lucky to get 6 plants out of it. They have been faithfully producing about 5 huge zuchinnies every week.
Now if I could just get my tomatoes to turn red!!
