I'm Home!!!
First let me thank Scott for getting an update on me from my DH. My surgery went great and the staff at Baptist was wonderful to me. I'm so glad I decided to have this surgery and am looking forward to the days ahead. I didn't feel that way while I was lying on the gurney waiting to be taken into surgery. I thoughts there were: What have I done. Who would willing choose to have major surgery. Maybe I should just get up and walk out and go back home!! Then they brought my DH back and before long I was off to surgery. When I woke up and got the pain level under control I was thankful I had chosen to do this. Thanks for much for all the prayers and concerns.
I wish I knew how to post the e-mails my DD sent out the family and friends. They are so funny and yet told people how I was doing at the same time.
If anyone is looking for a surgeon in the Nashville area I would highly recommend Dr. McDowell at Baptist. My whole family think he is the best. Oh, and he's cute too.
I weighed when I got hime yesterday and weighed 12 lbs. more then I did the date of surgery!!! I'm guessing that is from all the fluids they pumped into my body along with the gas they blew into the cavity to move parts around.
This is the only time in my life I was excited to pass gas!! They said that meant my stomach was no longer asleep. I had to accomplish this feat before I could go home!
My next hurdle is to figure out how to count my Protein when I have pureed my food. Lara said the best thing is to eat 3 small meals and then have 3 protein shakes throughout the day. Or I could add Whey to my food and get in my protein that way. (Any suggestions)
So far I haven't had to just sip my liquids (will that come later).
Love to all of you.

Baboo,
I am so glad that everything went alright. I had been praying for you. You are doing better than I did if you are thankful for the surgery already! It took me about 4 weeks to be thankful! Don't worry a bit about the weight gain. They wash your abdomen with saline after the surgery and usually don't get it all out, plus we all have a LOT of swelling afterwards. It will go away. Now, sip, sip, sip, and walk, walk, walk!

Gald to hear that you are home and doing good. Those thoughts that you had right before surgery, well let me tell you that is very normal. You think what the heck you are doing...should I...shouldn't I...been there done that. Just do as the docs say and you will be fine. Keep us posted on your progress.
