Psych Eval
I had my psych eval in February and have been meeting with the psychologist every since. She says she's reluctant to clear me for surgery until we get my impulsive nature under control. I have problems not only with eating but with shopping. I use both to try to drown out the anger that always seems to be simmering beneath the surface and to try to fill the emptiness within me. Of course they don't work. Have any of you had similar problems and, if so, how did you overcome them?

((((((HUGS)))))))) to you. You are doing the right thing by talking about it with your Psychologist. My mother has the same issues, but has never tried getting help for it. She has always been an impulse buyer/eater with major credit card debt to show for it (always had major debt, even when I was young).
I think just being aware that you act on impulse is a great step. All you can do is work on what the underlying issues that are going on when you are tempted to impulse buy/eat.
I know it is a struggle and I don't know if it can ever be entirely stopped. It is totally up to the individual I would think.
Best of Luck to you!

I agree with knowing and understanding is the first step.
Impulse is one of tha most difficult things to get an understanding of. We do alot of things everyday without thinking them through to the end .
It helped me to look up some resources on how to make good decisions, also doing a little research on what impulse actually is and how it relates to a persons psychi .
It also helps to keep posting and journaling, lets you kind of see whats going on :)
hope this helps some
