"Sorta" New Member Intro
Good evening!
I say "sorta" new member intro because I have been a member on this board 2 times before.
I live in SE TN and this is certainly not my first attempt at getting WLS. Actually, it's my 4th.
I'm looking for a place to find support, friendship, encouragement, and advice from others. From past experiences, I know OH is the best place for all of these needs I have!
I am morbidly obese, 300 pounds at 5'4'' and a BMI of 52. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, insulin-resistance, pre-diabetes, some depression and a bit of social anxieties, arthritis... and I am sure a few other things now. Isn't it awful when you have to rattle off all of the things wrong with you and have to think - "Did I get everything?"
Years ago the first time I tried to get WLS, all was going well except the dr. office stalled big time and wasn't very responsible. I decided it was a sign and gave up on it. Luckily so - the dr. later stopped doing the surgeries, I believe because of several complications. The second time around, I was going for Lap-Band. (At that time, RNY was too scary for me - I wasn't educated enough on its benefits.) Well, my insurance company approved RNY but not Lap-Band, as they considered it experimental. I chickened out and kept getting bigger. The third time I tried, my insurance company denied me and I was so down, I didn't even bother with an appeal. My policy had a written exclusion already and I was just hoping for a longshot or symapthetic person on the other end.
Now, through some chaotic events here, I am unemployed and now on TennCare. And lo and behold, I see that TennCare covers WLS! They assigned me to BlueCare, but I may switch to a different TennCare provider here soon. (I have some insurance questions, but will post them separately.)
Sorry to make this so long. I'm just really happy to be back here! Now, I just need to pretty up my profile and siggie a bit, and I'll feel back in the loop here!

As they used to sing in the old "Welcome Back Kotter" TV show:
Welcome back, may your dreams be your ticket out!
Now, if you don't remember that show, it's OK. I'm just old and my mind plays tricks on me! Glad to see you again. I will say, I did not recognize the name, but I do recognize you picture! Don't give up!

Welcome back. I do remember you.
I'll be praying for a better outcome this time. Perhaps you needed this additional time to really prepare mentally and emotionally for the changes.

P E A C E - It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.
Hello, how ya doin'?! Yes, I loved and still love Welcome Back Kotter. But anyway welcome, I don't believe that I had the pleasure of meeting you.
May I encourage you to not veer away from this path for a 5th time. Everything happens for a reason and this is your time, so be encouraged and be blessed on this journey.

Susan - I recall you, as well! Thanks for the welcome! And I can certainly use all the prayers I can get, thank you so much.
Diane - thanks for the warm welcome! And boy, don't you wish we had good sitcoms like the old ones - Taxi, Welcome Back Kotter, Different Strokes, What's Happening, etc., LOL. I miss them!
Believe me, I've reached a point where I will not give up on this. I am getting bigger and getting sicker and I know that if I don't get this taken care of, I won't be here too much longer. Thank you for your blessings... and best of luck with your surgery! I see you're almost there - you must be *so* excited!!!
