Questions about Linden, Tn
Good Morning all of you fine people.
Is anyone here familiar with the Linden area if so I am trying to find a Hotel that has been there for a really long time. I do not know the name of it but my Uncle actually owned it for many years 1953 - 1972 and we were often there when I was but a young person. He is now 97 years old and has an extreme case of Alzheimers and all he talks about is this Hotel but he can not recall the name of it.
This Hotel was right in the center of Town then and was near a place that was some type of a Thrift Store with a catchy name like "Hole in the Wall" or something like that. Can anyone offer any advice on this request?
Hi,
I am originally from Memphis. My best friend's family had a farm in Pleasantville, right next to Linden, that we visited every weekend of my childhood and young adulthood. I do remember a tiny little hotel on the bluff of the river in Linden, but don't remember the name. Have you checked with their chamber of commerce? It is such a small town, I imagine that someone will remember it for you. Good Luck in your search!

I know what you are referrring too. My grandmother lived on Cedar Creek for over 30 years until a couple years ago when we moved her here to Nashville to be closer to family. So, I grew up in the summers in Linden and Cedar Creek. I can not remember the name of that hotel you are referring too (I am too young!). I asked my grandmother and she doesn't recall the name but she is pretty sure it is no longer there. She said they turned it into apartments and rent them out.
There is another hotel as you come in on 13 before you get into Linden but I don't think that is the one you are referring too. It is next to the Rusty Hook Resturant or whatever. I don't think that hotel has been there for as long as you are thinking so I am pretty sure it is not that one and I am pretty sure the one you are thinking of that was right in the middle of downtown (close to the market) is closed and now (or was) an apartment.
Sorry, if this doesn't help.

Freesample, did a little digging and there was a Hotel 114 E. Main St. Linden, Tn. It was called the Staley Hotel built in 1939 by Bob Staley. Closed down some years ago but was recently remodeled and opened as the Commodore Hotel Linden very nice 13 room hotel. The article says that they preserved some of the pieces marked made for Bob Staley. I don't know if this is your grandfather if it is it would be pretty cool to check out. Their number is (931) 589-3224. Based on the age of your grandfather and location this might be it, hope so. C'ya Bob
