Diane, Actually, I did take tennis shoes and wore them everyday!  I took the kind that I could slip into , kind of like clogs.  They were easy on and had great traction which is really important when walking those halls!  I way overpacked, I took makeup-didn't want it, took a book-too drugged to read it, took socks-hard to get on.  I did take my pillow and, boy, was I glad!  You are going to do great! Hello Marilyn and thank you for the reply..........I really was kidding about the tennis shoes but I know what kind you're talking about. The mule tennis shoes, yes, great idea. I have plenty of pillows. I will probably overpack as well but I figure I'd rather be overly prepared than not. Thanks! With all of you having such confidence in me and the warm well wishes from so many on this board, how can I not do well. I will see you on the losers bench!

Diane, if you are on a CPAP you can bring yours with you just let Vandy know early so one of there techs can check it and put a OK sticker on it. My feet stayed cold as well. Take Care less then a week now! C'ya Bob

Hey Bob! No, I'm not on a CPAP, so I'm in the clear there. I do have a problem with my feet, if they're cold so am I, so I will be wearing socks probably the whole time. Thanks Bob, I'll see you on the losers bench! Yes, time is really winding down.

I've enjoyed reading all the post about what to take to the hospital.  My surgery is a week from today at Baptist.  I was wondering about taking a book to read and crochet to work on.  From what I've read here I won't feel like doing either.  From reading your post here's what I have on my list so far: 1.  Robe 2.  Pillow 3.  Chapstick 4.  Socks (?) 5.  Non skid socks or houseshoes 6.  Fleece throw 7.  Comfy clothes to wear home (will pjs do?) 8.  Toothbrush & toothpaste 9.  Comb & brush 10.  Past the age where I need pads! Will I need someone to stay at the hospital with me or will I be okay alone? Thanks B

If I'm gonna be that groggy then I won't need anyone to stay with me but, the t.v will do, while awake. In spite of me telling her not to come with me my mother is coming anyway, but I told her that she needed to come back home and not worry about me. This is a very thorough list. I'm glad this thread has helped someone other than myself.

I stayed alone at night because my hubby had to get back to Clarksville and stay with the kids. I was fine because I was so drugged out that I wasn't good company anyway. I didn't even have a phone in my room and my sister mentioned it to me. I told her that I didn't want one because I didn't feel like talking to anyone.  I over packed and all I did was sleep, sip and walk and watched tv when I was able to stay awake. I was so happy that I had my own pillow, socks and lip balm.

That sounds like soemthing I would do, that's why I'm telling my mother to come back home, but she isn't listening, neither is my brother's girlfriend, nor is my younger brother or his wife lsitening, they might be good to help me try to stay alert during the day. But I know what the crucial items are now and I will be sure to pack those things.
