I went to see my PCP and Psychiatrist yesterday so that we could work on getting my meds changed to a form more suitable for me in the weeks after surgery. I have liquid Prozac and have to crush everything else, but it's well worth it to me.

It was also imperative that I saw my PCP because I am now experiencing more knee pain. I told her I thought it was supposed to have gotten better, instead it hurts a lot more now. She has given me something mild and explained to me that carrying all of this weight for many years has ruined my knees with arthritis, I knew that but didn't really want to hear it, she has also instructed me to not move around so much until after surgery, but told me to get up and walk ASAP when the surgery was over with to reduce the risks of any post surgical complications. I had that in mind anyway. We're so much on the same level, that's why I love her.

What got me was when she gave me her blessings and wished me well, went over my recent labs with me and let me know that everything looked good, told me that I would do fine with the surgery and then, get this, told me that my surgery date was the same day of her wedding anniversary. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone, or One Step Beyond, maybe even The Night Gallery, Oh Rod Serling where are you?!

She also told me that I must have a good gene somewhere because people that have carried my weight usually have high cholesterol. Oh Dr. Tamula, you're wonderful.

Thanks for reading!

Diane its always great to get good news from your Doctor. Might I suggest for your knee problem try water exercise. I have a friend who has had both hips and a knee replacement he said the first hip he did traditional exercise and took forever to get right. But after the second hip and knee he went to the YMCA and started walking in the pool and recovery was quick. Plenty of resistance yet no real weight on the joint. I know right after WLS you won't be able to do it, but maybe it would help until then. Good Luck, C'ya Bob

Thanks Bob! I hadn't actually really thought abou****er exercises but considering the fact I might just have to go do that because I don't want to just sit down, and my PCP knows that, that's why she asked me if I would like something for the pain and I accepted but something mild. I am going to call the Rec. Center here and ask about going to the pool. I just want it to get better.

Hello Beth long time no chat!! I do hope the pain goes away. I feel like after the surgery and the weight starts dropping at a more accelerated rate the pressure will be lessened and I won't hurt so much. I'm glad that someone knows how it feels. I hurt so bad last night it was almost impossible to go to sleep but I did rest comfortably after I got settled in.

Hey Diane--I'm sorry your knee hurts--arthritis in my knees is one of the reasons I'm trying to have this surgery too.  I look forward to hearing how your losing weight helps with the pain--and your PCP sounds GREAT!  The 21st is SOOOOO close!!!

Hello Erika and thanks! I know you and I will benifit like the rest of the WLS veterans have. I have to look beyond the pain, which is a hard thing to do right now and hope for and expect a better tomorrow. I see you have Dr. Richards, I do believe that he is a good surgeon I will meet him Thursday. I will let everyone know how the pain improves as I lose weight, but now I hurt so badly.

My PCP, Dr. Alma Tamula, is the best thing that ever happened to me, she is the best doctor and I wouldn't give her up for anything unless I have to move to another state expecting a good paying job with excellent benefits.......lol then and only then may I even consider it.

Time is really flying but I'm all hyped and can't wait.

Water exercise is the only thing that gave me any relief for my knee (even Lortab didn't touch it).

Hey Blush! She gave me Lortabs and I guess they're doing me some good I did have to take a whole one last night and I fell out, what relief but I was back up and moving again this morning and having to endure the pain, I will have to look into going to the rec center and getting in the water.

Hey baby doll, I am so proud of you, don't you forget to let me know your date, I have a very forgetful mind. Just ask Trina. Then don't forget to ask for a flavor in the liquid prozac. and maybe in some of the capsules you can get sprinkles. Water is great, as well as the sun, I found that my body doesn't absorb the vit. D as well, but the sun is great for that, so it is easy to get through 2 birds at once. HEHE.
