Another Question...
See, I told you all I would be full of them.
Ok, so my insurence kicks in in 2 weeks and I do not have a doctor in Nashville so I wanted to go ahead and make one now for in a few weeks (because you know it takes them forever to book a new client appt).
So my question is, does anyone have any suggestions?
I want to let them know I'm ready to start the steps toward weight loss surgery so a doctor that has been good at helping with the process or a advacate of it would be great.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Kirsten
O.K. What kind of Dr are you looking for? PCP; OB-GYN; WLS? What type of Insurance do you have? They should have provided a book with a list or a online site with a list to choose from. What side of town do you live in? Do you have a preferred hospital? Once you answer these questions, we can all give you a better path to travel. I personally like Summit and Centenial while others prefer Baptist (rooms are to small for my taste!) So if you can give us some feedback we can help you. Good luck.

Thank you, questions I can do. I'm pretty sure I have to do the 6 month diet and stuff like that, so I would need a PCP first to get this ball rolling, right? I have Athna (spelling?) I just moved across town and can't find my book but I think I can get one at work tomorrow. I'm in east nashville by 5 points. I don't think I have a preferred hospital.
The PCP we used is very friendly to WLS. Dr. Scott Major, but he is at Summit. If you prefer a closer one I'm sure there will be plenty of suggestions from here. If you can't find your book, look online at Atnea (sp) dot com. I think first you really need to call the insurance company first to make sure they do cover WLS with your policy, then go from there. If you have been here a while and have a OB here, he/she may be a start for the diet plan too. Good Luck.

Yay, I have a picture! Thanks Scott!
I don't have any doctor here... I sorta avoided them before :(
I'm planning on going to HR before work this morning and see what I can find out and then calling Atnea first thing. I will check and see if that doctor is on my list of approved doctors, Id love to use someone who is wls friendly for sure! Thanks
I don't know if one is better than the other, but I have Aetna Select (EPO) and they were very fast at approving me. They required a 3 month process for approval.(not hard at all). 3 meetings with a Nutritionist, 3 with an exercise consultant and a Pyche evaluation (most were done online if you use Baptist Hospital) and attend at least 2 surgery specific support meetings. When all my paperwork was submitted I had approval in 4 days!!! Good Luck!
