I see my doctor July 15th about weight loss sugrey and it seems time line wise, it will be another 6 months before I get a date for surgery BUT I wanted to know so I could plan how long your "down" time is.  I get 2 weeks paid vacation a year and then a few floating holidays and sick days but I wanted to see what is the soonest people went back to work?   Also, how do I get a picture of me on here, for when I post its not just a shadow? Thanks!

Hi, Welcome to the Tennessee board!  I have been coming here since last November, and I have received soooo much support.  It has been great!  I had to have an open RNY so I was off work for 4 weeks, but I think almost everyone that has a lap RNY gets to go back to work in 2 weeks.  It truly has a lot to do with what you do for a living-lifting and stuff. About the picture: You have to have a picture is jpeg format, I believe, and it has to be really small. On the left side of this screen, you will see a menu. Click on the one that says user settings and then follow the directions for the avatar.  If it doesn't work, it is usually because your pic is too large.  Hope this helps.  Scott is our resident computer guru, he can probably help a lot more than me. Welcome to the Tennessee boards!  As far as down time, I think it depends on what type of work you do.  I am mostly a computer/sit at my desk type of job.  I was able to go back to work at 2 weeks, but took a 3rd just to be safe!   As far as your picture, try this link here: Avatars: Everything you need to know If that does not work, I would be very happy to resize our picture and help you place it.  Just let me know.  You can get in touch with me here or by sending a private message.  Good Luck!

Thanks for responding.  I think if you don't mind Scott I will just have you resize it and set it up for me.  I'm not as computer savvy as most would think.

I'm going to be talking to my doctor about the lap band I think and my job is a desk job (sales for Grand Ole Opry) so two weeks would be great since I could just use my paid vacation then.  I was up and walking around the day after my c-cection so I consider myself pretty tough and heal fast but I guess we will see!

Hi there and welcome to this wonderful board, so glad to see newbies on here posting. If you are considering LapBand, then I highly recommed Dr. Morton at Baptist. He did mine almost a year ago and is hopefully fixing to do my DH's. I had Atena, when I had my WLS and there is quite a few hoops to jump through, but all worth it in the long run. I hope this helps and please feel free to join us at the Lunch Bunch outings that we have the usually the 2nd Sat of each month and the Dinner Club that is usually the last Fri of each month. You will be able to see all the details on here. Also, if you consider the LapBand at Baptist then there is a support group that meets there the 2nd Thurs. of every month. Keep us posted on your progress. Cheryl
