WLS OB/GYN
Dr. Larry Gurley, 284-1500
He supported my decision to have wls, and also tried to do the best for me when it came to birth control. He did not want me on oral pills as they don't absorb properly. He didn't want me on the depo shot as he said it causes appetite and weight gain. I did the Ortho Evra patch for some time, then had side effects... he allowed me to do the NuvaRing but highly recommended Mirena IUD for me as a wls patient.
He seems to know his stuff, and I like him very much. He has helped me through a lot of hormone problems and always very conservative. I wanted Yaz birth control and he would not let me since there are known problems in some patients with potassium. He still makes me get my potassium checked frequently to make sure another drug I am on is not causing increased or decreased levels....
If you're looking for an OB who has experience following pregnancy after WLS, my doc is Anthony Trabue. He's downtown, right next to Centennial. I went to Baptist, so he goes there too. Good luck
