New here & trying to get my support group stuff in for approval

Hi. I'm Christy, and this is my first time on here. I'm working on getting approval for gastric bypass with Dr. Richards at Vanderbilt in Nashville. I don't really know how to begin or anything. I have done everything except my support group requirements before I submit to insurance. Any advice on what information to say or ask. Anything is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Christy, You will love the people here on the forum!!!!  They are so supportive!!  Sounds like you are well on your way to getting approved.  Maybe you can get your support group session done quickly!  When you say any advice on what to ask or say...who are you talking about talking to...PCP, support group, insurance company.???

Well, I can get in my required support group sessions here. I have to print up conversations or something. I feel pretty well-informed about the surgery, and my father had it when I was a child. My boyfriend's mother had it a year ago. I've known several people that have had it, so thinking of what to ask leaves me at a loss.

I would just feel asking anything that comes to mind.  I researched for 1 1/2 years and I still went into my doctor's office with 4 pages of notes.  My doctor answered each questions for me.  He was very understanding.  REMEMBER....no question is a stupid question.  It is better to be informed than not to  be.

Ok. What has been the hardest thing for you since having the surgery?

Hi Christy, I joined this board for the same reason. Ive found many things come up that I havent heard of before. I used to live in Clarksville as well. I went to APSU from 99-03 and then lived up there until 2007 when I got divorced and moved back to my hometown on White House, TN, which is about 30 miles north of Nashville.
