day 11 post-op
Congrats on being Post-op!
Now on to more pertinent matters. What are you struggling with? Is it getting your fluids in? Are you having trouble with protein?
Help us out by being a little more specific and I'm sure somebody will jump in with suggestions! A lot of us have been there!
We look forward in hearing from you!
Aggie,
I don't know what specifically you are struggling with, but I do know I struggled too. I struggled with pain, with nausea, with trying to get in all the water and protein, and with the "strange" bowel habits. But, most of all, I struggled with fear and regret. I was afraid of a complication and regretting my decision to have the surgery. I thought maybe I had made the biggest mistake of my life. But, at about 3 or 4 weeks, I began to feel better, and a lot of the fear went away. So did the pounds which made me feel better about having the surgery. By 6 weeks out, I was thrilled that I had done it and have not regretted it one moment since then. I will PM you with my telephone number. Call me if you want a shoulder to cry on.

Okay, now we know where to start. Head hunger is something we have all gone thorugh. I found that when I got my protein in, the head hunger was not as bad. so, let's start there. A few suggestions for protien would be using sugar free jello and mixing a a New Whey Protien Bullet. This will help with fluids as well as protien.
Here is the recipe for the protien jello:
PROTEIN JELLO
1 c boiling water
1 pkg SF jello any flavor
New Whey Liquid Protein (3 oz)
Cold water (5 oz)
Are you tracking what you eat/drink? A couple of good suggestions are fitday, the daily plate, or spark people. You can find links to all of these sites by cliking here (protien packet #1, protein packet #2 ). The information was put together by Melinda (Recovering Fatty). I'm sure that there is a lot information that you will find handy. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do!
My blog is: Bald Is Beautiful !
Keep us informed and good luck!

You know, I did not think about this, but I did not seem to struggle with the head hunger as much as some. However, one of the things I did before and after surgery was to clean my closets, I packed clothes that I knew I would never need again, because for the first time, they would be too BIG!! Therefore, I would suggest packing up all those winter clothes that you will never be wearing again and when you come to a lunch bunch, bring them for the clothing exchange. It was funny, when I did this, I keep my drink close and it seemed to battle the head hunger, to say the least, I cleaned out all my clothes throughout the house. Just be careful not to lift anything very heavy, one piece at a time will work!! You will get through this!!
