Weigh in and stuff X post

Well, I had my first official weigh in since I started the 6 month diet last month. I ended up weighing 1 pound more than I believed I weighed all this time. How did I do that? I CAN'T READ THE FRICKIN SCALE, thats how.  I know, unbelievable. Anyway, my visit to the doc in January, I misread the scale. My actual starting weight was 323. Then on April 24 when I thought I weighed 308, I actually weighed 315. Now I am at 309. Not what I expected but still better than nothing. I've lost 14 pounds total. 6 pounds since I actually started officially amonth ago. The NP at my doc's office says it is time to get movin'. She is sending me to physical therapy because of my back problems and they will teach me some exercises that wont aggravate my discs. I also went out and bought a few accessories. I have a small pilates(can some one explain pilates to me?) ball with a DVD. I have a set of handweights and an exercise mat for yoga, whenever I find a good video. So, the question is...will I actually use these things? I hope so. I've got to do something. My NP is concerned that I lose actual fat and not muscle, so tomorrow I will bit the proverbial bullet. Blessings, Karen

Congrats on the weight loss!  I look at it like this ... "A loss is a loss, not a gain".    So, Keep it up!  The 6 months will be over before you know it!

Thank, Scott. I appreciate the encouragement. I'm so lucky to have this board and especially my husband to help me move forward. He has been great with each of my baby steps. I'm trying not to get my heart set on the 6 month time frame because my appointment with the surgeon isn't until July. He may have requirements I don't know about yet. I'm determined to be patient. We will see how long that lasts. LOL Thanks again. Karen

Karen You are doing awesome!  Those pre wls diets... .argh!  I hated being on mine and had to lose 10% of my body weight before insurance would approve my surgery.  A real thorn in my side...  honestly. but you are well on your way, doing fantastic...

Thanks so much, Melinda. It is good to have people like you to encourage me. I'm thinking my surgeon may have something specific in mind as far as a goal for the 6 month diet. After my consultation, I will post about whatever I find out. Blessings, Karen

Thanks, Marilyn. It is going a little slower than I thought but I am by no means discouraged. I got the call today about PT and will be starting on June 3. Haven't done any working out today yet, but I managed to get a lot done to the house. It feels good to be moving. Blessings, Karen

Hello Karen,

I do wish you all the best during your 6 month diet, it is a time to learn and try to help yourself. That's what I used it for and am still doing that. I found this link that may help you to answer some of the questions you have about Pilate's, I hope this is of some help to you.
