I am fortunate or unfortunate depending on how you look at it, I can have 15 or so grams of sugar (that is what our physician told us we could have) and be fine. Everyone is different that is why I always list the amount of sugar in every review. I also dump on sugar alcohols so I have a very hard time with some some low sugar and sugar free products. Many people do just fine with sugar alcohol, however. I also had it pointed out to me that we should strive to keep our protein higher than our carbohydrates in any bar or shake that we eat. (generally in all things we eat, see my next cookbook review for more on that) It is very hard to find a low carb, low sugar bar that is both affordable, easily available, and doesn't taste like dirt. That is why I started doing these reviews, to save others from making the mistakes I have, ordering or buying a large quanitity of bars or shakes only to be stuck with them or to become sick from them. I also don't like certain flavors whereas others love them, I try to make that clear in every review also. (see my comments about the Detour bars).
Odwalla products in general from what I have seen are high in sugars. I have never tasted any of their stuff. The highest sugar content I have had in a protein bar is the Slim Fast choc chip granola and it has 11 grams of sugar. I only eat 1/2 of it at a time
The other two protein bars that I love are Carb Conscious Supreme Protein quadruple layer peanut butter crunch and caramel Nut Chocolate and they are large sugar alcohols BUT I eat maybe 2 bites a week! I do not eat much protein bars as they stall weight loss and have a lot of carbs. They are my treats
I am trying to look at your reviews, but for some reason the internet is acting up and I cant seem to load your page. I will try again. I would like to see your blog too. Thanks for sharing it. You can look at mine too at Recovering Fatty.
And, I have product reviews as well.
