Malpractice

I am to have surgery on the 29th to see if my ENT can fill the right vocal cord that is now paralyzed from having the Disks repaired in my neck.  I am still in a lot of pain.  I still can't talk because of it.  I have trouble swallowing and liquids still manage to go down my windpipe causing me to aspirate from my nose.  I am going to wait until after I see the neck surgeon  on Tuesday for a follow-up, then surgery 2 days later.  If my voice doesn't restore itself as my ENT Dr. is hoping, then I will let the attorney start the processing.  Even with my volume on my phone turned up to high, no one can hear me.  Guys seem to like the whisper, one called yesterday to see what I cooked for dinner, told him I wasn't his wife, to fix his own dinner.  He doesn't live with me, and can cook his own meals.  I buy just for me not the neighborhood.   MEN!!!!!!! Anyways, the attorney said that if this surgery on the 29th doesn't restore my throat and voice, that I do have a malpractice suit.  I will be getting copies of my records when I have my follow-up next week.  Just so I'll have them for the attorney.  Say your prayers that I will be able to swallow, talk, and that the surgery to fix the paralyzed vocal cord will work.  He's filling the right side with a gel so that the left side can meet the right side so it will close when I eat.  He said it may last a month or 6 months.  No guarantees.  If this doesn't work he will then have to replace the right nerve that makes the muscle to vibrate letting the vocal cord know when I am speaking will need to be replaced as well as the vocal cord.  I truly don't want to go thru all that because it's more complex, and longer on the table vs the RNY. Need to eat.  Love

Thank you Tina.  I have a lot of prayer going out that all will go great with this surgery.  I may still have a case, because of the damages that was done to me.  Trying to talk and breath at the same time, has put a lot of stress on my lungs and heart. When you talk, the vocal cords close, when you breath they open up. Mine stay open.  My sons wished that I didn't have a voice when they were growing up, one was born in the south, the other in the North so they fought like the Civil War Brother against Brother. I did a lot of screaming just to be heard by them.  LOL, now they are grown and parents, and finding out what it was like for their parents.  What goes around comes around.  Kathy

Thanks Bob, it has been tough, and it's only May.  After the 29th, unless it's life threatening, no one better even suggest surgery to correct something. I'll quit taking the estrogen and use my BB Gun on them.  LOL    love ya
