Need info - John Deere State
i work for the state of TN and have the blue cross blue shield. I met all the requirements and was easily approved. I would suggest you switch your insurance if you're having a bit of trouble with John Deere. I think open enrollment is still going on. You will have to contact your departments HR people
Hi Juanita, don't panic, most insurance companies require that you do a 6 month Dr. supervised diet before they will approve you. Go see your PCP have them put you on a diet. You will have to weigh in every month. While you are on this, what weight you lose goes towards lbs gone for good after surgery, plus there will be other tests you may have to have done, like if you suffer from sleep apnea, you will have to have a sleep study and level test. Hiatal hernia, that will need to be checked, but it's fixed during surgery. If you still have your gallbladder, that will need to be checked, some require a physical and mammogram. Plus working out, the better you lose and work out the better you will recover from surgery that much faster.
So don't fret, it will go by fast and before you know it, you'll be on the losers bench with the rest of us. In the mean time, you can be gathering medical records for the past five years, letters of medical neccessity from all your Dr.'s. Also if you have heart and lung problems they will need to be checked. So you will be quite busy.
I wish you joy in the coming months, you are taking the first step to a healthier you.
May God travel with you on your journey. Kathy
Juanita,
Is it United Health Care of the River Valley-formerly John Deere? If so that is what we have and my husband was denied for the six month diet but as soon as he finished that he was approved within 24 hours. He had his surgery on Tuesday!! I have the same insurance and a hand full of people were approved without the diet when John Deere was switching over to UHC. I don't know why they were so lax on a few of us but they were.
Good luck and if you do what you are supposed to and meet their requirements they are good about approving.
Janie
