The Pinrose Drain

Can anyone please tell me how long this drain is supposed to drain? Mine hurts and has to be reopened at all times, is that normal? I'm almost 2wks. out and I would appreciate any helpful answers and what to expect in the upcoming weeks...Thank you so much......Tina

Tina I feel your pain literaly . My area were I had mine is still sore and draining but .. I had some irritation between the muscle layer too . I amalomost a week ahead of you . Hang in there remember we have had Major Sur this area is going to be the last to heal . Dr dyer told me it is the only place he pots deep tissue stiches in so I know from past experiance it is going to be sore . So lons as the drainage is not yellowish or foul smelling you should be ok . Talk to him about it nexr visit . When do you go back ??. BTW I have had a horrable time with tape sore and have founs something called skin prep at the drug store it really helps . It provides a protective coating so the tape does not pull the skin as bad . Laura

Thanks Laura, I was just wandering how long we have to put up with this drain....Mine tries to close and has to be reopened every time it is time to clean and drain it, that's what hurts the most besides the usual soreness.....I would like to ask you another question, please, does this surgery effect our hormones? I feel like I have been on an emotional rollercoaster all weekend......Please let me know so I dont think I'm going crazy.........Tina

Hi Tina, I had one taken out 3 days after surgery and the second one was taken out about a week and a half later in the Dr.'s office. So it should be coming out soon. I found with my skin so sensotove to tapings, that where the drain tube is, I would use a sanitary pad and put the sticky side to my underware, so the draining would go on the pad. Worked great for me. I need to find out about that spray that Laura talked about. It hurts every Thursday when I have to have my Med-port accessed to draw blood and give me potassium. Tina I don't think it is so much effecting your hormones . Your body is going through Mojor stress right now and big changes haveing some deppression or feeling like you are on the roller coasrt can be quit normal . Hang in there , Call me if you need me . Laura
