very disappointed
Your body has been through a very traumatic event. Give it time to adjust to all of the changes going on right now.
Five pounds in five days - when was the last time you lost a pound a day on a diet?!
At less than 2 weeks post-op I seriously doubt there is any way you are eating too much. Try to relax and give it time. I promise the weight will come off, just not overnight.
Susan

Hey Teresa, what you lost the first week of post-op was the fluids that you received thru your IV. Don't be jumping on the scales every day expecting the weight to just disappear. Remember you didn't put it on in one night, and there's basically no way you can over eat on liquids. Drink plenty of water and the weight will come off, guaranteed. After about a month you will really see the difference and feel the difference. Like Susan said, when was the last time you lost a pound a day? Be patient with yourself and do as your Dr. and nutrionist tell you and the weight will come off.
May God travel with you on this journey, Kathy
Don't be disappointed. I agree with what everyone else has said. You rbody is in shock and it will take some time to get adjusted. I bought a scale but have started only to allow myself to wiegh once a month on my surgiversary dates. That way I won't become obsessed. You are doing great just take it one day at a time..
Teresa, the only way you can mess up the operation well two ways, one is if you over eat, you will be sick to your stomach. The second is to never allow a n/g tube to be placed into your nose. It will rupture the pouch. This isn't just for while you are healing, it's for life. The best way to make sure it's never done, is to register with Medic Alert. The number is 1-800-ID-Alert. It's $20 a year, and the braclet or necklace (I wear one) is about $30. It will save your life, they will list that you have had the Gastric Bypass and to never put a N/G tube into your nose.
I can't stress this enough. I had to have the tube put into my nose once and I got tired of it being there and pulled it out, it was a good 5' long. Picture that going into your new pouch. That tube can really hurt your pouch and that's for life as it's forced down into you. Being registered with Medic Alert, can save your life, and not just the surgery. This way if you are unconscience, they will be aware to not use the tube. But they can use the endoscopic one that goes down your throat to your pouch. I wish you the best on this new journey. You can do it, and be proud in yourself for taking this stand to improve your health and life.
God Bless you, Kathy
teresa,
Don't worry about it... stay off the scales! I got so frustrated the first month. I lost 20lbs the first week out of sugery. I had surgery on April 11th. I didn't lose anymore weight until the night of May 4th...waking up on the 5th with a 5lb loss. I was so scared, I emailed my surgeon's office LOL Your body is in shock right now. If you don't see a loss for a few weeks, don't fret. There is no way that the weight will stay with the amount you're eating. I didn't feel like I was on trac****il I started exercising. You might want to add some form of exercise to your daily routine.... it'll make you feel better both physically and mentally.
hope this helps
April
