Dehydration- anyone else have this problem?

I am writing for my mother, she is five weeks out and is having trouble getting enough liquids in. I noticed yesterday that she is dehydrated. Has anyone else had this problem? Also she told me yesterday that she feels malnourished. Did anyone else feel like this? She is still only on pureed foods because she has been unable to handle soft foods. She is drinking protein drinks from GNC and is getting a fairly good amount of those in a day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

In my humble opinion, I think you need to call your surgeon. I have never experienced this, but I know being dehydrated is not a good thing. Please call your DR. first thing. I hope your Mother gets to feeling better soon. Sara.

PLEASE call her surgeon ASAP! I was dehydrated and ended up spending 4 days in the hospital as a result. They ended up socking mega fluids via IV and I also was given B-6, B-12, magnesium, potassium, and I can't remember what else.This is not something to play around with. Please don't delay and good luck!

Hi Kathy, get your mom to the Dr.'s or to the ER asap. I've been hospitalized from dehydration several times and had to spend a few days in the hospital. That's not something you to ignore. Get her to drink plenty of water, but get help fast. I will pray for her and that she will be alright. Keep us informed. Love Kathy
