Is there anyone who has Bc/bs PPO that has been denied,or has an exclusion!! I was wondering if there might be an exclusion with other weight loss treatments like weigh****chers and jenny craig, not something that is considered medically necessary.

Alice, I don't know anything about insurance, But I did want to say welcome to the board. I am sure someone can help answer your question. Please come back & post often. We are a good bunch of supportive people here. Sara.

Alice, I am the insurance coordinator at my job and we have BCBS PPO with a written exclusion for the treatment of obesity & morbid obesity. (which personally I think sucks!) This exclusion applies to WLS and any other medically prescribed treatment for obesity including medications designed to aid in weight loss. Read your policy closely as each BCBS is different. Even if you think there is an exclusion, contact your benefits office or the number on your card for member services and ask if there is any chance of getting approval if you can prove medical necessity. The worst that can happen is that they tell you no and there is always the chance they will say yes. Good luck! Susan BTW - I have BCBS through my husband's employer and they covered my surgery. This makes me feel even worse when I have to tell someone at my job that our insurance won't cover it.
