6 month MD diet ....What's expected?
Can anyone give me a reason for the 6 month MD supervised diet that is required for some insurances? I have Cigna *****quires it. I'm having a tough time sticking with anything right now. I'm just finishing my first week and I've already blown it so guess I'll be starting over tomorrow. I'm so afraid of not sticking to it, because my insurance might not approve me. I haven't been able to stick with anything for a long time. Any insight anyone can give I'd appreciate it!
Thanks,
Janie in Gallatin
Janie,
I didn't stick with mine. I consistently lost and gained the same 10-15lbs just about every month. It was ridiculous but I was approved. However, I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of TN. I hear Cigna is tougher to get approval. At any rate, keep a food journal and exercise log. This will help tremendously. I even submitted it along with everything else to Centennial who then forwarded it to the insurance company. Pretty much the diet is to show that you have attempted at least one medically supervised diet and exercise program. I see you have selected Dr. Houston as your surgeon. He performed my surgery. I'll be glad to answer any questions! Good luck!

Janie, I don't know how your insurance is,but I have TnCare/Medicade. I had to do a 6 month weigh-in for them. I lost & gained during this time period. I was approved really fast. I know different insurances is all different, but I know how mine was. I would say give it your best shot & see how things turn out. I wish you the best of luck.
Sara.
Thanks for the encouragement. I am just not happy with the diet I suppose. I've lost 3 pounds this week so that is encouraging. I'm sticking with it as close as I can. I will give it a good faith effort. I haven't been able to stick with anything in the last year or so. I guess I'm so tired of doing all of this!
Thanks again!
Janie
