I've tried to post here twice so it may not even work but I'm trying anyways. Is anyone here having surgery before/after their spouse? My husband was denied GB earlier this year for lack of a six month pcp supervised diet. He will finish that in October. I was the one who got all of his appointments scheduled and gathered all his paperwork. During that time I started thinking about it for myself. I finally decided that it was for me as well. I have been on the diet with him and will be applying for it at the same time he is reapplying. Is anyone else in this boat? Janie

Janie, I'm single so I can't speak specifically to your question but there are two married couples in my support group that have gone through surgery, not at the same time, usually a year or two apart. They are still together and seem to be great support to each other.

Hi Janie, Me and my fiance' both have had the surgery. She had hers July 18 2005 and I had mine June 19 2006. What is funny when we met 2 years ago she had never thought about having it done. But I was in the process of sending it in to my insurance to get approval. And of course I was denied tried fighting them for several months and finally had to switch insurance companies. And during that time she decided that the surgery was what she needed too. And her insurance didn't require prior approval and she had hers done in less than a month after deciding she wanted it. But it is wonderful to have someone in your life that has gone through it. For me it makes it easier knowing that I have someone to go through this with. Good luck to you and your husband and I hope you have a easy path ahead of you. Best Wishes, Larry

Hi Janie, I am going thu that right now. I had lapband in Oct.2005 and now my DH is about to get his date for surgery in a very few days. After he saw my success with the surgery and that the weight was comming off at a slow steady pace he was excited not only for me, but also for himself and started making the appts. all by himself. I had my surgery on March 2 of this year and hubby had his March 23, three weeks apart. It has been wonderful! It is so cool to have your best chearleader and your best coach in the same person. We wanted to have it done the same day but surgeon said no way. A word of advice, DON'T both of you have it the same day. There are little things that you will need help with those first few days. Let me know if you have any specific questions for us and feel free to read my profile. Good luck and go for it!!
