Help! they found gal...
Lot's of obese folk have gallstones. And, lots of surgeons will remove the gallbladder during WLS. They found gallstones in my pre op tests as well, and there was also no infection either. The surgeon's plan was to remove it during surgery. However, he had to do something else unexpectedly and opted not to. I still have my gallbladder and still have the stones. The surgeon isn't too concerned because I don't have any infection or symptoms. He said to wait three months after WLS to have the gallbladder removed unless something developed further.
Hope that helps

It's usually not a problem if there is no infection at this time, then they will probably just wait and take the gallbladder when you have your WLS. But call your surgeon and ask to be sure.
I didn't have any stones or anything in mine so my doc had to leave it in (TN law) and exactly one year and week later, I had a gallbladder attack. Not only was it full of stones at that point, but it was infected and causing pancreatitis. So, I ended up having emergency surgery to have it removed.
