One more question???
Tell me which protein drink you like best. Did you buy samples before surgery? I'm getting so excited!!! This week will go by so fast. I have so much to do. I work tomorrow then off for the 4th, see Molly on the 5th, work on the 6th & 7th, trip to Indiana late on the 7th returning late on the 8th or early on the 9th then surgery at 11:00 on the 10th. Boy do I have a busy week. I need prayers from all of you...........Terry
Terry,
I'm going to give you my answers to all 3 of your questions in this one post.
1. Restless leg syndrome - don't have it.
2. Queasy pops - I never really had any severe nausea. Of the 2 times I got really nauseated in the hospital, 1 was the first time I was up and was told that was normal. They gave me another shot for nausea and it went away. The other time was after my first bite of hospital jello - I couldn't stomach jello for the first 2 months. I had episodes where the appearance or thought of a particular food, like jello, took away all desire to eat but I never felt like I was going to barf.
3. Favorite protein drink - hands down Designer Whey. I get it at GNC and The Vitamin Shoppe, whichever has the best price going at the time. I have yet to find a flavor I don't like. I mix 1 1/2 scoops with 1/2 serving frozen fruit and 4 oz water for a nice thick milkshake consistency drink. If I don't feel like adding fruit, or I'm having chocolate, I'll use 1/2 cup crushed ice with enough water to make 3/4 cup and blend with 1 1/2 scoops of powder. I mix mine in a Magic Bullet.
I also use Revival Soy. I keep these in my drawer at work along with a shaker cup for when I need a protein pick-me-up during the day or if nothing appeals to me at lunch. Since these come in pre-measured pouches, they are easy to keep at work. I do have to order them online and they are more expensive than the Designer Whey.
I like Unjury too. Especially the unflavored. It truly is flavorless when added to other foods. I like to put it in soups, pudding and lattes or hot chocolate. It can turn your favorite liquid or liquidy soft food into a protein rich meal. Again, this is something that I have to order online and it is more expensive than the DW.
My best advice would be to buy some samples to try post-op so you can find the protein that you prefer. I tried all of the ones I had seen mentioned on this board and found that I preferred the 3 I continue to use.
Good luck. After this week you are going to need your down time after surgery to rest up. LOL We'll be waiting to hear from you on the losing side!

well i guess im just about the last person to ask about protein, but i did try slim fast low carb shakes this weekend ( they have 20 grams ) and i was able to get them down. i got the vanilla cause it was all they had at the time ( do they make the chocolate, because i have a feeling it would be better ) anyway i would try those because until i found them i wasnt able to stand the protein drinks at all!!! good luck, your surgery will come faster than you think!!!
Thanks Jacqueline. You don't know what a help this will be to me. Good to know that you can drink the Slim Fast and keep it down. I'm not sure about the chocolate but i would think I could tolerate chocolate better than vanilla. Hang in there. We are both going to be on the losing side. BTW, how much have you lost??..........Terry
I guess that is why I hesitant to buy any of them right now. I may like them before surgery and not like them after. There are a couple I think I will go ahead and get. I also have a friend who had the surgery and she has some left over that she didn't like so I'm going to try them. Congrats on the weight loss........Terry
I tried the samples from Bariatriceating.com too. I didn't find any of them I liked and some of them were downright NASTY!!!!!!! When I would mix up one of them and make a face with my first swallow, my husband would tell me to just pour it out. He told me I didn't have to finish anything that I didn't like just because I had paid for it.
Have I told y'all how much I love that man?!!!!
I got samples from I-shophere.com too. Many of them are okay but nothing I would purchase. They are too expensive.
Hi be aware what you may like now, you may not like it after surgery. You're taste buds will change. Mine are still changing. One week I can eat something, make it again and end up throwing it out or up. I tried the Unjury from my surgeon, the one mixed with water was down right nasty. Haven't tried the others that are used with milk. I get most of my protein from white food, cottage cheese, eggs, shrimp, tuna, fish, and chicken breat meat. Rite aid has a powder for 10.99, it's unflavored, one scoop is 22 grams of protein. I don't order online as it's too expensive for me. I have tried the Slim Fast in chocolate. Not that crazy about it, Boost with high protein shakes in chocolate are great tasting, I buy them at Wal-marts. So it's going to be up to you to find one that works for you. Best of luck and remember, I may not be online, but you are in my thoughts and prayers. Kathy
