6 Week Update
Hey Guys, Sorry I have been off the boards for a while, I guess just cause it's summer and I'm moving to Murfreesboro, I have been kinda busy. I have my 6 week post op with Molly today, and I have to say I was a bit disapointed. I have lost 32 pounds and 6 and a half inches off my waist. I hear of others loosing so much that 32 pounds really seemed like lame... but Molly says that I am doing really well with my weight loss. And it does feel great to be at 235, I can't wait to hit below 200, my goal is to be below before school starts again. Anyway I'm doing pretty well with recovery, although I have only been getting about 20 grams of protien ( yes, she yelled at me and told me that my hair was gonna start falling out ) I swear I am turning over a new leaf and starting my protien drinks, its just they are so yucky! How are all the other post ops? I hope all is well!!!
Jacqueline
If your protein drinks are "yucky", maybe you need to find a different brand.
I tried several samples before I found that I prefer Designer Whey. I also like Unjury and Revival Soy but they have to be ordered online and are more expensive.
Thirty two pounds in 6 weeks is not bad! When was the last time you lost 32 lbs in 6 weeks? AND...this is just the beginning!
I am 5 months post-op and am down 62 lbs. I have not been walking & exercising like I should until this week. I am more active but I haven't really made exercise a priority. I know my weight loss would have been more if I'd been at least walking every day. I am now in the fitness center every afternoon after work. I am so close to onederland I can taste it and I want it bad. I would love to be very near goal by Christmas.
Hey little one. Glad to hear you are going great. Now is the time to really start getting in your daily excercise. I am almost 6 months out and down 91.5 lbs. only need 56 more to my goal. I work out at a gym three days a week, and use my gazelle at home. It's going with me while I'm visiting my parents. Plus there is a park to walk in, and the YMCA I can use. I also plan on going to the pool or the lake while I am there. It's summer time, get out there and do your thing to get in any excercise, don't forget to always take water with you where ever you go. I love you, little one, you will make it below 200 soon. Love Kathy
Hey Jacqueline, glad to hear from you. I have my 6 week appt. with Molly on Monday. But, you know what's really a hoot? I was at Vandy today to see Dr. Richards. We keep missing each other. I was on the third floor and you on the second. hehe.
I am hoping to be at your starting weight by the time school starts. I think you are doing well considering your size. 5 pounds a week? when do you ever remember losing that quickly?
20 grams of protien only? oooo I bet she was mad
Have you tried the shakes already made by slim fast that are the low carb? I think they are decent. The trick for me is to get them VERY cold. I even put them in a can kooler to KEEP them cold. They are bad warm. Also, the Atkins Advantage Strawberry is good. I don't like them as much as Pizza, but if I am watching TV and notice I am not doing anything, I get one to sip on just to get in some extra. I also have been buying the milk from McD's during the day when I am thirsty. That helps.
How are you tolerating soft foods? I do well with ground beef, but chicken is not good. Also, I am doing well with eggs and tuna. The best thing I had in a long time was the inside of a taco bell taco without the lettuce of course. MMMMMM good.
I have been doing ok in my recovery, but we went to Vandy last week on an emergency because they thought my gallbladdar was acting up. They did SO many tests. Turns out, I had one heck of a kidney infection. Had to take huge antibiotic. The worst tasting crushed pill EVER!
Hope everything else is going well. E-mail me if you want to compare notes about foods and stuff...whatever. [email protected]
