unfriendly dining places
Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if he would accept the scars on my belly as proof that I really did have surgery and didn't just make the card on my computer.
I've not had a problem with any restaurant yet. No one has even questioned why I want to order from the kiddie menu.
At Chili's last week when we ordered our single entree and an empty plate for me, the server did tell us that we could order an additional salad for X amount. Hubby told her I wouldn't eat it so no thanks.

I have only had to show my card from Blount Memorial once, most of the times I just tell them that I recently under went stomach surgery and can barely eat what a toddler would eat. I have charged as an adult, and others haven't charged me the adult price but a child's serving. It just depends on where you go. I will be moving to Morristown at the end of this month. Still having problems finding a place that is ground floor with w/d hook-ups, and wheelchair access. I have never eaten at Justins, and my card can't be printing out off the computer. It was given to me upon discharge from Blount Memorial Hospital, it also shows on the back the type of the procedure that I had to have. Thanks for the warning, I may just have to check them out and give them a piece of my blond mind. Citizen Tribune is the best advertisement, and word of mouth thru the internet is also the best advertisement. If the manager has a problem he can call my surgeon to verify it, then I will be contacting the paper about the managers actions. I even have my surgeon on my cell phone as well as Blount memorials. Thanks for the info. Love ya, Kathy
i live off lakeshore road just below gilmore dock, but i work in morristown, i had my surgery in johnson city,dr sco****son. i had my surgery march 13, 2006 and as of 6-13 i had lost 70 pounds, and am off all my medication, so i guess if justins has that attitude then he is a big loser, and i can do without his food, thanks sharon
Hi Sharon I just realized how close we are. I live in Bean Station, and I am always having to go to Morristown. I joined the Healthstar wellness for working out. It's only 36.20 a month. I usually go on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays. I have my labs done on the chemo and potassium every thursday so that day is taken. Tuesday's are usually just resting, cleaning around the trailer (now packing) or for other appointments. Sunday's I don't do anything, but Saturday keeps me busy, between packing, and I have a gazelle I can use at home. Hopefully we can meet sometime since you pass right by me if you go up 11W towards Morristown. Don't tell me you go on 92, that route would give a saint a whiplash. Kathy
Hi Sharon,
I think Susan is on to something - if this is a place you like to frequent, I'd show the unfriendly manager my incision scar! And if you really do like the place - go, eat what you want/can and take the rest home.
I am 11 months post op and even though I can't eat much I still love to go to restaurants. I'm learning how to just sitting and relax while others eat. I usually don't order off the children's menu because the variety doesn't appeal to me. The only problem I have had in restaurants is when I would insist I didn't want anything to drink. Most servers don't understand this so now I just order water and set it aside. Early on my husband & I both felt the need to explain why I wasn't eating much, but we have learned that this is not necessary. Now I usually have concerned servers asking if there is a problem with my food. I just assure them that it is delicious and that I will fini**** later. That's really all I have to say. My dogs just love me and whatever I bring home!
Funny story: I have a good friend who had surgery about 18 months ago. She has an odd side effect in that as she starts to get full she sneezes. She also has dogs. She says that the second she starts to sneeze she has an audience of dogs sitting at her feet just waiting to see what she is going to feed them. Isn't that hiliarious?
