I seem to be having trouble finding a psychologist on my insurance plan. The original list suggested by St. Francis Hospital is too out of date. As long as the psychologist is on Blue Cross/Blue Shield is all I care about. Any names from you ladies & gentlemen out there you can provide me? Don't really care which hospital affliation. I am in the beginning of the process for approval. Cannot believe all the hoops I have to leap thru. Absolutely no sense of urgency or priority with anyone connected with medicine. I'lll be unemployed & on my death bed at the pace this procedure goes. Surely these people will have to spend time in purgatory for the agonizing, time wasted, BS, back-peddling the medical professionals put us thru! I've been blessed & never been sick or needed surgery before. Now I know why the people die before they get treated. Grrrr.....

Sorry, I don't know the Memphis area at all, but I can suggest that you call your insurance customer service and ask for a listing of in network psychologists. Or call your primary care physican for a recommendation. I know it is a lot of hoops to jump through. But if you want it bad enough, you'll jump as much as the insurance company wants ya too unfortunately. Make sure you have everything you need before submitting your paperwork to the insurance company.. the process will go so much smoother and save you a lot of heartache. I don't know which BC/BS you have, mine is through the state of tennessee. They require 6 month dr. supervised diet, psych eval, letter of medical necessity, the past 5 consecutive years worth of medical records indicating your weight AND as of April 13th 2006 - a total loss of 10% of your excess body weight. But check with your own plan for their requirements. Good luck! Oh, and welcome to the Tennessee board! April

Hi, I just had my Psych eval yesterday, my surgery is on July 11th. I too have BC/BS of TN but decided to use one of my EAP benefits through my employer. My doctor said it didn't matter who I used as long as they were a Liscensed Pyschologist. The pyschologist that surgeon recommended wanted to charge a copay plus $130 for testing(that I didn't even need). So it was nice to be able to use my EAP benefit and not have to pay anything. Just an option you might want to look into. Take care and I wish you the best. Chris
