I AM APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can not BELIEVE IT!!!! I found out today I am APPROVED for my RNY surgery. I am soooo excited. It actually feels unrealistic. I do not think I will believe it until I am being wheeled back to the operating room! The nurses at Vanderbilt are on lunch so I couldn't talk to them to tell them and find out the next step to get a date. But I wanted to let everyone know since you all were so helpful and kept me grounded as I was going through this process. YEAH!!! So many emotions right now. What do I do now? What is next? One day at a time I guess. Thanks for everyones support!

Yeah Misty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you. We all have to have another get together once you get your date. We need to have a pre-surgery party for you and a post-op party for the rest of us. Maybe Jacqueline will be able to make it this time. Congratulations girl!!!!!!!! Susan

YAAAAYYYYY!! I'm so happy for you! You have waited so long! I'm sure one of the nurses will get in touch with you before the end of the day. I was in the same situation. I found out I was approved.. called the docs office three or four times with no answer, getting really frustrated, and then about an hour later, they called me at work to tell me that I was approved. You'll probably set up a consultation with your surgeon and go from there... the process goes so much quicker after your approved. Congratulations! April

Hi April. Thanks so much for the Support! It was a long time coming but it happened at the right time and when it was supposed to happen. I did get to speak to the nurse and she did confirm they received a call from Cigna also to say it was approved. So it looks to be official. She can not set up a surgery date or my pre op appointments until the letter is in writing. Cigna sent it out today so hopefully by the end of the week I will receive it and be able to get a date set up. I am excited. I am sure the worry and scared part will soon come! But until then - I am ecstatic!!! Talk to you soon. Misty

Hey Misty!!! I am soooo happy for you!!! I knew you'd get approved. I know how exciting and overwelming it can be. Does Vandy have a copy of your offical letter from the insurance company. I was told that they couldn't start doing anything until they got that. I got my letter before they got there's and faxed it. Any questions you have you can always ask me, I just went through it!!!! Are you having your surgery with Dr. Torquati still? I recommend him he was great. I hope we can all get together soon, I'm sorry I missed the last one!!! Luv, Jacqueline

Hi Jacqueline! Yeah, It is with Dr Torquati unless something changes. I am glad to hear you liked him. They haven't gotten the letter yet. They told me the same thing about having to wait for the letter. Hopefully that will come in the next couple of days and I can fax it to her so I can start getting my appointments set up. I already feel like there is so much to do! You will have to let me know how everything was for you with Dr Torquati and Vanderbilt. It sounds like you liked the Dr but had some problems with the nurses. Are you going to Vandy's support meetings? I need to start going to those.
