Topic: RE: Bariatric Surgery Assessment Clinic
Hi my name is Sandy and I have just finished the assessment stage at the clinic. Monday I started the liquid diet. My surgery date is November 3rd and I couldn't be happier. I learned so much about myself. I recommend this process to anyone that is considering surgery. Everyone at the clinic was wonderful and made me feel very comfortable.
Wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Topic: RE: Looking for info on Doctors in Tijuana
Hi Kurt
Are you still considering lapband surgery in Mexico? I had my lapband done in April 2004 by Dr. Lopez Corvala, and have never regretted it. Dr. Corvala has excellent credentials and because I'm an R.N. and worked in California at the time of my banding, I was able to verify his credentials. He has been a bariatric surgeon for over 20 years and has been doing lapband since 1995. When the FDA in the U.S. passed the procedure, Dr. Corvala worked for the Lapband company, and trained U.S. surgeons in the procedure. He is also a member of the American Medical Association. He is a professor of surgery at the University of Mexico. He frequently is a speaker at International Bariatric conferences all over the world. I also learned how to do fills and have done over 200 fills in the last 2 years in Saskatoon. If you need more info about Dr. Corvala you can go to my website at www.sasksurgicalsolutions.com. I coordinate patients for Dr. Corvala, and provide follow up care in Saskatchewan. We also have a support group that meets monthly and is free and open to any lapbanders. Our next meeting is Sept. 27th at 1 p.m. at the Saskatoon Field House and the next one is Oct. 11th at 1 p.m. at the Saskatoon Field House. If you've already been banded, we'd love to see you at one of our meetings.!!

Topic: Saskatchewan Bariatric 15-month pilot project is full!
"The Bariatric Surgical Assessment Clinic has been established as a 15-month pilot project starting March 10th, 2008 to assist the Health Region in understanding what resources will be required for full implementation. During the pilot phase, the clinic will support up to 125 patients.
Since the announcement of the clinic in February 2008, there has been significant interest from the public and, as a result, Regina Qu'appelle Health Region has now reached the maximum number of people it can support during the pilot phase".
I know this will frustrate many people, but please understand they did this pilot to understand what they need to do a permanent program. That's a great thing! We all need to be patient and I believe things will come.
I have a meeting with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health on the 29th, and I expect it to be very fruitful.

First of all, Congrats! That is soooo awesome!
I would encourage you to post your thoughts and feelings and then give people on this board opprotunity to respond.
If anything, I'd like to help anyway I can.

Topic: Start pre op in 10 days - very excited
I am so excited, I start the pre-op Whey Protein drinks in 10 days and I can hardly wait, it means my surgery date is nearly there (Oct 6). Boy, have I waited a long time for this day to arrive, 3 years on the Saskatoon waiting list, and now it is finally happening here in Regina.
I have so many thoughts going on in my head, but no-one to share them with, not because I dont have freinds, but because I dont think they would truly understand and know what I am feeling right now, because most of them are a "normal" size.
I wonder how much weight I will be able to loose, Im 5'8" and I weigh 271lbs but im not sure what to expect, I have no idea what I should be. Is there anyone out there that can share their post-op experiences with me. I'd love to hear from you.
From, very nervous, Jules.
