Topic: RE: SBSSG AGM - ALL WELCOME ! ! !
Hi Joel,

I sent you a message earlier but never received a response. Do you know much about the pilot being shut down at the end of May and what that means for Bariatrics in Saskatchewan?

I have begun pursuing self-pay in Mexico for the gastric sleeve - know much about this?

Topic: VSG in Mexico
I have been doing lots of research and I plan on going to Dr. Alvarez or Aceves for VSG in May or June.

Does anyone know of any one from Saskatchewan that my have had this surgery?

I will have to watch the swine flu epidemic - may have to look at postponing.

I am on the Bariatric Assessment list but way down the line and I just spoke with them and they are winding down at the end of May and it is being turned over to Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region - and I spoke to them last week and they do not have a plan in place and probably won't until November - December, 2008.

Any information or feedback anyone has on the above is appreciated!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, PeanutFreeMom, but wannabehealthy45 is correct. We would love to be able to expand into Saskatoon to address the needs of WLS patients, but are having a difficult time finding a Support Group Leader for that area.

Lorna is a great person, and as an RN, knows a lot about aftercare. If she does not know something, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] and I will find an answer for you.

Hi,

Sorry to butt in here, but I just wanted to let you know that a lady by the name of Lorna King runs a support group monthly in Saskatoon.  It's primarily lap band patients but it's support and there may be other surgery type folks there too.  If there are other support groups, I'll bet Lorna would be able to help you with that.

I think the next meeting is April 18th??  I'm not a hundred percent sure of that but she is a great lady and I'm sure she would be able to help you.

Here is her email addy...
