Topic: RE: Where are all the Saskatchewan People?
I have heard that right now the sleeve will be done only in special cir****tances.
"They will doing the sleeve on people who qualify for the gastric bypass but would benefit more from the sleeve such as people with liver failure,..."
As of right now they are not doing the DS."

Topic: This Damned Liquid Diet (also known as Blowing in the Wind)
Okay I am on the liquid diet. My surgery is August 9th. But I have a problem. I'm hoping someone can answer me this weekend as the clinic isn't open until Tuesday.
I think I maybe lactose intolerant. I've developed really bad wind and now diarrhea. Can I substitute lactaid or almond milk for the milk. Would one be preferable to the other?
I hope someone can help me. I'm tired of blowing in the wind.

There is a potential he may be doing that surgery, but funding needs to be allocated first. No time frame as to when or if this would occur. Dr. Pooler would love to be able to do the VSG, but he does not control the finances.

Topic: RE: Need Help finding a Surgeon!
I just finished talking to whoever answered the phones at the Bariatric Center....first to see if my doctor had sent a referral in............but I was told by them that they have no confirmation that the VSG surgery is being done here in Saskatchewan.......I am so confused......I got my hopes up that I may have found a way to have the surgery done.........and now they are dashed...........
guess I need to start looking for Wheelchair accessible places as my Arthritis is SO bad it is making it hard to walk and I am going to have to stop working soon as the stairs have become an issue....
oh well.....guess some things are too good to be true.......

Topic: RE: Saskatchewan's Bariatric Surgical Assessment Clinic
Things have changed since I started. There are quite a few more people on the waiting list. When I was waiting I called the clinic and asked them if they could tell me where I was on the waiting list. Back then I was 30th and it took me about 4 months from when I called in (March 09). I waited until the program trial period was over in February to call. It was about a year from when I was referred. But then when I was referred they were only doing the 15 month trial period and had stopped taking patients after a while. They had to wait for the Sask government to give approval before they went any furhter.
The totaly wait time from referral to seeing them was about 13 months. I have no idea what it would be now.
I guess I'm trying to say is call the clinic and ask if they can tell you where you are on the waiting list.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long it takes for the Regina Assessment Clinic to contact you after your Doctor has sent in a referral. Do I need to be phoning Regina to see if the Referral was made?
I saw my Doctor a few weeks ago and I know I have to work on Being patient, but my knees are getting worse every day and I would like to know what I need to prepare for.
I understand there are meetings every two months as well, I will be starting a new job soon(so long as my knees hold out) and would like to give them a heads up.
any info about the program would be welcome....
thanks
