Topic: SBSG Resignation
Hello Board Members and Friends.
It is with deep regret that I must tender my resignation as President from the Saskatchewan Bariatric Support Group aka SBSG.
14 days ago, I was voted in as the newest Town Councillor for Redvers, which comes with another set of responsibilities, meetings, and committees.
Aside from that, I now live in Redvers, Saskatchewan, which is a 550 km round trip from every Board Meeting and every Support Group Meeting and every Wellness Activity, all which are currently booked on different days of the month.
I have realized that my role as President is becoming a emotional and financial strain, of which I am not able to maintain and that it would be unfair to the Group if I remained President and not able to provide more attention.
I know that you, the Board, are amazing people and this Board has never been in a better position then now.
I will still help Tess and Crystal prepare and plan for our potential conference in May, if they would like, however, it will be planning remotely from here in Redvers.
Please understand that this is one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. It breaks my heart to do it, but it's time for me to let the SBSG stand on it's own.
Thank you for respecting and understanding my decision. It was been an honour serving with you and giving a voice to the obese.
Until Next Time I Remain, Joel Sopp

Sorry Violet, It's suppose to tell me when I have replies to my posts but it hasn't been. I have lost a little bit more weight. I am currently in the process of adding foods to my diet. It's crazy. You never know how it's going to affect you. I am going through a bit of problems with socializing. So much of my social life was centred around food that I am going through a bit of a mourning period. I still crave the foods I use to love but they can affect me in some pretty painful ways. I had not 1 but 2 thanksgiving dinners. It was crazy but the second one I got so sick I had to go home. I did all the things I was told not too do. I ate 2 fast, I drank (wine no less) while I ate, I overate. I was so sick. I felt so bad for my brother and his wife who slaved all day over the meal. I need to replace food in my life with something else.
Topic: round two we really really need more votes. please vote everyone
I am from Regina Saskatchewan Canada. RNY surgery is relative new here and we keep running up against Dr's who have no clue how to treat bariatric patients. There is a fund that will give us money for a conference for Saskatchewan ( and beyond?) doctors information on how to deal with bariatric patients. But we need votes. It is a Canadian site but you don't have to be Canadian to vote. Please register and vote every day for 10 days. It's a simple process to register and voting takes mere seconds a day. Voting starts on October 25, 2010. Please, Please, Please. Here is the link:

I'm sure that some of you have run across unedcuated doctors? I'm only 2 months out of surgery and feel like I'm hitting my head against the wall when it comes to doctors. Emergency room doctors and residents seem to be the worst. They treat you with distain.

Hi Danette
It was really nice to have met you on Saturday. Just thought I would check up on you and see how you are doing? How much have you lost and are you still feeling okay?

Does anyone know of a therapist in Regina who specializes in practicing with patients following weight loss surgery, and of an exercise group for people who have had weight loss surgery?
