Topic: RE: Anyone have vsg done in sask?
I should be having it within the next 6 weeks or so. It is covered by the province. The bariatric program in Regina do the vsg only in specialized situations. I am one of those cases.
There is a support group in Regina. I am not too sure how you find them but they are there. You should seek them out for support. If I lived in Regina, I certainly would be contacting them. I wish you all the best on your journey. Please keep us posted.
What made you decide to go for the vsg as opposed to any other choices?
Take care.

Thanks Billie. How far have you come down now? Last post I saw of yours, you had lost lots. Apparently they will do the sleeve now in Sask if your a special case. If there are extenuating cir****tances, and in my case there are. I do feel very lucky to be able to have the vsg here. I would not have gotten the rny though as I feel that it would have been suicide for me. I too, like you, would have went to Mexico had that been my only option.
I have been approved for the surgery but have not got my date yet. Now I wait for the phone call and then start a 2 week liquid protien diet prior to surgery. They have now gotten a 3rd surgeon here in Sask and apparently this last dr. has done quite a few sleeves.
I think everything will work out great. Speaking of great, how are you loving your new life?
Take care.

I am Happy for you that you are getting the sleeve here in Sask. Is it covered or are you self pay.As for me They jerked me around for 10 years and never was any closer to helping me.so i decided to just pay and go to Mexico. I wish i would have done that in the first place..So best of luck to you and keep us posted on your journey..

I am getting set to have a vsg done in sask. I am wondering if anyone else has had it done here in sask and how they are doing. I have a great deal of confidence in drs Kaban and Pooler as surgeons. They both strike me as being very professional and very competent. I am looking for other experiences and it seems as not many post on the sask site so I certainly appreciate any and all responses. Thanks very much.

That is simply amazing Billie. Has it been difficult at all for you? Do you feel like you are dieting or do you eat just about everything? Thanks for the updates and info.

Topic: RE: stomic support
There is a store in Saskatoon called Nordon Medical, they specialize in first-aid and medical supplies, and usually carry lots of kinds of braces, I am not certain what exactly you are looking for of if they would have one but they would be a good place to start. There is also another place called Schaan's Health care, they also sell a lot of different medical supplies.
Hope this helps.
