Thinking of Mexico
Hey Billie! My name is Elyse :)
I had my weight loss surgery in Mexico and I have never felt better. It was inexpensive ($7,900 US) and because I found a fabulous person here in Saskatoon who makes all of the arrangements for you (except your flight) I was able to go into it worry free. I had my sleeve surgery done laproscopically in November with Dr. Almanza and am already down 45lbs!
We have a support group that meets once a month (actually our next meeting is on Wednesday) in Saskatoon and we tend to all keep in tou*****ase someone has any questions or problems that come up.
As far as aftercare, I found a doctor in Stoon that's been fantastic - and he works in a walk-in clinic actually. I've never really had to wait and he's been completely open regarding bariatric surgery in general - it's been great!.
If you want to get more information, you should check out this website and talk to Mel or Caralee there - they can at least give you some other options while you're thinking! http://www.weightlossforever.ca/
If you have any questions that you need answers to - please don't hesitate to let me know!
Lighter dayz are within reach!

Hi everyone,
I am from Yorkton, Saskatchewan and am also considering the sleeve.
"unfortunately" I am such a case that has to go abroad for this surgery because of a "to" low BMI.
I used to be a BMI of 42 though and am well on my way back there (I think!!) so I am very very very desperate. It is all I think about!!!!
I have spoken with 2 possible surgeons and of course they both sound great but I am quite scared to choose a surgeon. One is Dr. Ortez and the other is Dr. Kelly. They are both in Tijuana. Has anyone
on this board had surgery with either one of these surgeons? The second is 2000,- cheaper than the first which I find a very big difference.
Anyway, I am also considering contacting Dr. Aceves who seems to be very popular. Is it very complicated to get to Mexicali. It seems like Tijuana is quite a bit easier to get to from SK
What are your thoughts?
Thanx so much for your help!!!
Margaret
