Hi Arlene! I too went to Mexico and had LapBand with Dr. Kuri - my surgery was on November 9th and have had two fills by Michelle Wright in Saskatoon. She is very good and gentle - she has been trained by Dr. Kuri himself so I felt very comfortable going to her. Hi Elaine Penny here! How are things going for you. I haven't been on the sight for a while & thought I would see how people are doing. I have had a set back, my port is turned sideways so no one is able to access my port very easily. I went through a lot before I had it done by ct scan. But in the poking around my port or the tube to the band has been punctured and I may have to go back to mexico for a replacement. When they do the fill they can not remove any liquid and the fill only lasts about a week then it is all gone.... I have not gained anything but I also have not lost anything.... feeling a bit depressed about the whole thing. I hope things are going well for you. Diane, The B.C. stands for Baja California, not British Columbia. But, yes, there is only one Dr. Kuri and he lives in Tijuana, BC.

Arlene, what can you tell me about going to Dr. Kuri? Was it expensive? If my BMI is 30, is that high enough to qualify? I am very new to this whole thing, but a girl at work has had SOMETHING done, which she won't talk about, but she was gone for a year and she looks GREAT!!! Fill me in on a few details if you can.

Hello, My BMI was about 35, and if you have underlying conditions, high blood pressure, sleep apnia, etc. Dr. Kuri will do the operation for you. It will cost you around $8000.00 What I have found after having the surgery, and meeting many people who have had lapband, is that we are all ordinary people. I originally suspected that only the rich could afford the surgery, but if you value yourself, and your health, you will, like the rest of us, find a way. Go on line and find Dr. Kuri's site, contact him, and tell him your particlular stats. He will let you know whether he will operate on you or not. Good luck, Aurel
