Topic: Fashion Show Models for OH Convention Needed!
I'm starting to gather the new Fashion Show Models for the Saturday Night Fashion show at December's OH National Convention in Irvine, California! I've heard from a few of you "officially," but some others have said they are interested, and I haven't heard "officially!" This is a really "fun" event that anyone on their journey can participate in. But it's "first come, first served!" Here's what I need...if you did not model in last year's Fashion Show, and want to be in this year's, email me at [email protected] and send me a before picture of yourself in jpg format to use. Also start thinking about what you are going to model. The theme for the show is "Dream It, Be It" and I want all models to think of either something they dreamed of wearing before WLS and now can finally do so, or something they want to (or wanted to) be and wear an outfit indicative of that! Then I need a little "blurb" to read about you...your WLS date, your total pounds lost, and a little bit about your "dream!" And for all of you who modeled last year...I need you, too! After the "newbie models" have come out, I want to have you come out also, but your "blurb" needs to include any changes since last year...new "significant other," new job, new plastic surgery, whatever! Just so we can see that your "dream" is well on it's way! An email has been sent to each of the last year models, and you should have it...but if it doesn't show up in your mailbox, that's what I'm looking for. Please also email me at [email protected] with your info. I won't need your "before" photo, because I'll just be announcing your name, and your "update" as you come out. Thanks! Hope to hear from all of you soon! And GUYS....YES you can model! We had guys last year! Stagedoor Debbie California

Topic: Help me help breast cancer victims and their families...IMPORTANT
When I had my gastric bypass surgery this summer, one of the nursing staff (who was so kind and helpful) and I discussed how we both work in health care, her being in nursing and me being in HR, we also talk about our family. During our daily discussions (I was in the hospital for 5 days) we began chatting about family we have lost to cancer, breast cancer inparticular. I lost an aunt, support another aunt and the nurse had lost 2 sisters and a mother to breast cancer. In honor of my family and on behalf of the nurse who is a godsend, I want to give something back the world (especially these hard times of natural disasters throughout the world), and I have decided to raise as much money as I can to support this deadly disease, that has affected this entire world. Today, there is more hope than ever for people touched by breast cancer. Early detection and new treatments have contributed to a steady decline in breast cancer mortality rates. However, there is still work to be done. That's why I'm walking in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. I want to do all I can to support the American Cancer Society's lifesaving research, education, advocacy, and patient services programs so that, someday, breast cancer will no longer be a threat to the women I love. I therefore reach out to you ALL, my OH friends and family, and request your support and assistance with the fight against breast cancer. Please visit my web site on the American Cancer Society/Kintera Breast Cancer Awareness site at https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=104728&lis=0&kntae104728=E47CE49258F74B3DBAD04554B2F227F8 TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Thank you, Mikey K

Topic: Questions !
Hello Everyone from SD-- my sister is looking into gastric bypass-- she is scheduled for her 1st dr appt with Bradley Thaemert on Nov 5th. What's the scoop? Has any one used him that reads the postings? How many surgeries had he done? # of complications? any gastric leaks? how many deaths? bedside manners? I had my lap RNY on 12-10-03 and feel wonderful, but I had mine in Little Rock AR with Dr Mark Gibbs. My surgeon, as I am sure most people feel, is awesome. His creditials are great-He teaches new Dr's along with the fact that he learned from Dr Ozmond who perfected the Roux N Y the way it is done today- I want to make sure that my sister is going to a experienced Dr of gastric bypasses. We had some local dr's here that got on the band wagon and had horrible complications with their patients including multiple deaths. I am down 143 lbs now and am at goal weight. I would love for my sister to feel the same freedoms that I now have-- freedom from feeling like crap all of the time & having no energy. My sister also have extreme joint pain and fibromyaga? Not sure of spelling. Anyway- any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks & Have a great day! Tanya

Topic: Thank you from Trinity Bariatric
For all of you who kindly responded to the Katrina victims need for clothing by sending clothes to Trinity Bariatric in Illinois, the center wants to give you a big thank you. The center received over 2500 pounds of clothing!! This is a huge amount and as you can imagine they are out of storage room. They truly apprciate all the help OH has given to them but now ask that we stop sending them clothes. If you still have clothes you want to donate, please contact me at [email protected] and we will tell you where the best place would be to send them. Thank you all for your show of support when your neighbors are in need.
