Topic: RE: Can anyone tell me about Dr. Thaemert?
Hi Mike~ I just posted about him in another thread, so I will cut and paste what I wrote. I don't know Dr. Harris, but I KNOW Dr. Thaemert and he is wonderful! Hello there~ I had Dr. Thaemert and I thought he was AWESOME! I would use him again in a hot second. He is also a Christian, which might not matter to some, but it was very comforting to me! I highly recommend him. And his bedside manner WAS good. I grilled him like a cheese sandwich and he answered all of my questions and made me feel very ready. He didn't sugar coat anything either. But, I felt very respected as an overweight individual. Anyway, if you have more pointed questions feel free to contact me. I would be happy to answer them. Oh, and I DID have complications...I almost died. BUT, I WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN! And, I would use Dr.Thaemert! Hope this helps~

I won't be able to make it. Sorry! I am on call all this weekend and would hate to commit to something that I won't be able to attend. I too love Suffy! I also work with him. I work in the Operating Room at the hospital with him. He is one of my favorites and I couldn't have imagined going to anybody else but him!

Dr. Glatt of Surgical Associates at Sioux Valley Hospital did my lap RNY . He is wonderful and so accomodating for those from out of town. He will schedule your tests the day before surgery and your classes the same day as your initial appointment so that you don't have to make so many trips. I chose him because when I went to Sioux Valley's web page, he was the surgeon (that does WLS) with the most training in Laproscopic surgery. Kathy Drewitz

Maghan, It is my understanding that there is a obesity support group at the hospital. It is for all obese people but not specifically for those having had or interested in weight loss surgery. I have paid for and am scheduled to receive Support Group Leaders Training through OH. I love Dr. Suficool, he did my husbands colonoscopy and it seemed like all of the nurses really liked him to ( and I think that is saying alot if the nurses really like a doctor). I would like to have a planning meeting tomorrow morning at Starbucks. Could you come? Kathy

I would be interested in it. I just had Open RNY December 5th with Dr. Sufficool. I thought that there was a support group already. At the hospital? Maybe I am wrong. Either way..keep me informed.

I haven't gotten to the price component yet, but it sounds like they are going to discuss all that at the seminar on the 6th. If there is any way you can get there, you should try to make it. If you go with Dr. Harris, is it required that you attend one of the sessions, so you would be getting that out of the way, and it sounds like we will get some good information. Hopefully I'll see you there. Let me know if you're going. We can say hello. -Mike-

Thanks Mike for the info. I am trying to find a surgeon in the Sioux Falls area also. I am thinking of either Dr. Harris or Dr. Graham. People seem to like both of them. I am not sure which one to go with . If anyone has any info about these surgeons or the cost of lap rny I would really appreciate it. I will be a self pay. So I am also a little curious on the costs also. CA

Thanks everyone! I called back and they confirmed that Dr Harris does do laparoscopic. They're not sure why I was told otherwise, but that really doesn't matter. I will be going to Dr. Harris' first seminar on February 6th. Thanks for your input! Had I not posted here, I would never have checked back again with Dr. Harris, so I cannot tell you how much I appreciate it! -Mike-
