Dr. Strand has done a fill for me.  His nurse was Dr. Thaemert's during my consults.  dr. Thaemert's new nurse is awesome though.  Great staff!

I love Dr. Thaemert.  He is awesome!!  I would use him again in a second.  I have also had limited experience with Dr. Strand.  He is great too.  He is a lot of fun.  He didn't perform my surgery, so I can't speak about that.  But, frankly, in my opinion, your friend can't go wrong with either of them!!!
Blessings~

Hi everybody.  I just thought this would be a good way to get word out about Rapid's WLS Suport Group.  They meet the last Monday of every month at Rapid City Regional Hospital in the West Auditorium at 7pm.  I would really like for this group to grow and expand, especially with Rapid trying to become a "Center of Excellence."  Anyway, just wanted to get word out.  Thanks!

Hi, I am a patient of Dr. Obrien. I have a friend who was referred to either a Dr. David Strand or  Dr. Brad Thaemert of the Surgical Institute in Sioux Falls. I was happy with my experience and have recommend him to Dr. Obrien but his physician gave him these two names. So, I thought I would ask if any of you  know of them. Thanks

"Fudging" your height an inch or 2 will result in a higher BMI.  I had to have 2 co-morbids to be approved but all insurance is different.  Give it a try!

No problem.  That's what we are all here for.  I can tell you that I had open Gastric Bypass December 5, 2006.  I am young, no comorbidities and my BMI was 50.1 I think and insurance approved me.  The least you can do it try.  You never know what insurance will do and I know for bandings, well out here, they are trying to do people with lower BMI's.  That may be because they are just starting them though, but if they approve them I don't know why you wouldn't get approved.
