I understand you want what is best for you. I do not know of any dr.s in SD performing this.  Will insurance cover you to go outside of the state?

I actually have looked at both the RNY and banding.  I don't have a problem with either surgery type, but after the three years of research I've done, the DS really is the best surgery for my position.  I know the RNY works well for many people (how can I be on this site and NOT see the results??) and the banding does too, I just don't feel they would be the best choice for me, personally. :)

Okay. So here is my question.  Why the DS?  It is completely up to you, but it seems to me that most surgeons are doing the RNY or the Banding.  Have you checked into these?  They are both wonderful surgeries and have great results.

How excited are you!  I am excited for you.  I hope it all goes well.  Dr. Carver is a wonderful man and I am sure he will do a great job!

Thank you very much!  Everything was submitted to insurance, however I have not yet received a bill so I do not know what they have covered and what they have not.  Dr. Sufficool did both my hernia and tummy tuck.  He is not a plastic surgeon, however I felt most comfortable having him do it.  There is nobody else I would rather go to!  As far as anything else working, you could probably try exercise, however I don't think it will shrink it all.

Sorry to hear about your road block.  I unfortunately don't have an answer for you since I have only heard of surgeons in south dakota who does rny and lapbanding.   I sure hope you get something figured out.  Good luck.

I am scheduled for my first round of plastics on May 28th.  I am starting with an arm lift and breast lift with implants, then if all goes good, I will be doing a tummy tuck and thigh lift later this year.  Insurance unually does not pay and to even get them to look at you, you have to have years of documented skin issues (rashes, ect) photographs of these and documented doctors visits to be treated for these issues.  I wish they could just figure it out that after these drastic weight losses, we will still have issues.  I will be going to Dr Carver (insert chuckle here, I love to think of a plastic surgeon named Carver) I was considering going out of state, but after checking in to him, it would cost more to travel and stay in hotels than what he charges.  He also has been around a while and really knows what he is doing. Good luck with your quest.

I just found out that the surgeon I wanted, Dr. O'Brien, doesn't perform the DS.  :(  I'm stuck now, as I have NO idea who does.  Apparently, no one in his office performs that surgery, and I can't find any information anywhere else that would give me somewhere to start!

I have Dakotacare PPO for insurance, and their website's database is... less than helpful.  All they give me is the directory of names.  No details, no information on the doctors, and I have to know the name before I can even do a search!  Grrrrrr

Has anyone in the Sioux Falls area had the DS surgery?  Who was your surgeon?  I'm trying to keep from letting this get me down, but it's a little difficult.

Trying the exercise but may have age working the wrong way for me. I mean lack of elasticity in my skin. Any ideas on how to shrink this other than PS? Also who did your PS? Any help would and will be appreciated...
