Topic: Had my baby in March, now I'm back!
Well, some of you might remember me, I was totally into this obesity research last summer. I had a consult with Dr. Obrien, have decided on LapBand, then bam........found out I was preggo. Well, we now have a bouncing baby boy, and he is wonderful. My oldest daughter will turn 4 in a few days, second daughter turned 2 in June and baby is 4 1/2 months old. I am a teacher and had to go back and finish the year in late April, I teach special ed, so I also taught "summer school" until the middle of July, so now I've had a few weeks off, and school is ready to start again..........Anyway, background in check! Now, back to looking in the mirror and hating everything, feeling totally uncomfortable with who I've become and can't honestly answer my 4 yr. old's questions about  "why are you fat mommy?"...............I am ready to get back on the journey to the lap band, but I am sooo scared all over again. So what do you think I should do first?? Will I have to start all over again, or just call up Dr. O'Brien's office and see if I can proceed where we left off. I had given the dr. my husband's letter, do you think he will have to write another? I really just want to get this going and get approved as soon as possible! Any advice?? Emily

Cyndi,

thanks for all of your support.  I really appreciate it.  After beginning my liquid diet and staying completely faithful to it, I KNOW that I can use this tool as it was meant to be used.  If I can be hungry and manage to stay on this diet, I can use the band to help me feel fuller much quicker and eat healthier.  I've already lost 14 lbs and Im hoping to lose another 14 before surgery next week.
BTW...Thank you for your prayers during my grandfather's passing.  He was so Ill for so long, it was a blessing that he is now at peace.

thanks again.

Country gal...Im having my surgery on Thurs. July 24th.  Did they tell you that you had to stay overnight in the hospital, too?  Funny if we ended up in the same room, huh?

Ive started my liquid diet one week ago today.  So far, I've lost 14 lbs.  Im really shocked.  I didn't think that I would be able to stay faithful to it.  So, now Im hoping that I can lose 28 lbs before surgery, since I've got a week left.

Im so excited now!

Topic: RE: Dr OBrien Patients?

Is OBrian doing the DS now?  I had thought he was only doing LapBands.  I am looking for a surgeon to do follow ups with me that would be alot closer than going back to CA once a year.  I haven't found a doctor close that was doing the DS.

Christina, Is your surgery in July or have you had yours already?  I will be having my surgery with Dr. Obrien on July 23rd.  I am starting my two week liquid diet tomorrow.  Lets stay in touch.

Christina, Don't put all your faith in the band - but in yourself.  I've had several friends who've done the band - and the RNY.  After watching them, I decided the RNY was my best choice.  However, each his own.  You may, unforturnately, be able to eat many of the things you can now...you will need to use this tool wisely.   It is such a wonderful tool - WLS, but that is all it is.  I am thinking of you and praying for you.  Good luck.

I had RNY two years ago - it will get better!  If you need to talk or whatever, email me at [email protected]  This has been one of the best things I've done for myself.  :)
