Hello all, I currently live in CO, but am moving to SD (Sioux Falls area) around late October early Novemeber. From what I have seen I love the state already. I was just wondering if there is any way of finding out what some great companies to work for are. Of sourse, if you know that their insurance covers the WLS, that is even better, as I am wanting to have it done. Thanks, LP

Hello Lawanda, I live in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Moved here in 1996 from Loveland,Co. I love it here also. I work for the Federal Government, Veterans Administration Health Care. You don't mention what type of job you are looking for, but there is a VA hospital in Sioux Falls, and the VA is a great place to work for. I have Blue Cross/ Blue Shield Federal and they covered all but 10% of the surgery and doctor bill. No letter was needed as long as the doc deemed it medically necessary and you are at least 100 lbs overweight. A wonderful surgeon, Dr. Lee Trotter, is in Rapid City. He does open and lap. And does great follow-up care with his patients. But that may be a bit to far for you to come. I don't have any info on the surgeons in the area you are moving to. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you. Glenna

Thank you for your reply Glenna. I have experience in everything from customer service, technical support, insurance, and most recently I am in the 911 Database management field. I am already researching the DR's in or around my area. I grew up in Loveland, and now live in Greeley (work in Longmont). We are so excited about the move. We think we will love it in SD. I love Colorado, but it is time to move on. Again thanks for your info. LP

Sounds like the VA there might be a good place for you to go for a job. I don't know about there in Sioux Falls, but here it seems as though they are always hiring Ward Clerks. The ward clerks are always moving up the ladder, so to speak. Pay is pretty decent, and once you are in the Federal System you can move on to other opportunities. Also the benefits are great. I am happy to be of help in any way I can. Talk to you later, Glenna

Hey, I live only about 20 minutes south of Sioux Falls, in the fair town of Canton! Congratulations on the move, and welcome to SD! Hey, by the way, our house is for sale, if you're looking to buy one! hehe, just kidding. (Well, kind of, our house really IS for sale!) Anyway, some great places to work out here are Household Credit (collections place) also any of the hospitals. (Sioux Valley Hospital, Avera McKennan Hospital, or the VA Hospital) Citibank employs many many people as does Tel Drug. I hear Tel Drug is great if you're a mom and need a flexible schedule. Keep in mind, this is just what I hear, not that I'm an expert. At Citibank, I know they have insurance that covers WLS as a coworker of mine had it and was on his wife's policy, who works out there. And the thing about Citibank is that your benefits start the day you do, no waiting period. Midcontinent Communications is a great place to work. (That's who I work for. I work in their radio division, but they also have a computer division, cable, catalog order takers, and lots more. We employ about 250 people locally I believe.) There's some info for you to go off of! Great luck to you! And if you want to check out our house. . . . . . .just kidding. Have a great weekend! Melissa [email protected]

I'm not sure how many replies you have received, or what sort of work you are looking for, but Citibank is a great employer, as is Household Bank and Wells Fargo (where I work). There are many good places, and most have pretty good health insurance.
